Does anyone know if the 5.8 liter engine found in the 2013 GT500 is running Ti VCT or not? I have been researching this and found an official Ford spec sheet stating that the 5.8L in the Gt500 for 2013 and 2014 have TiVCT yet all other sources indicate that the engine does not have Twin independent Variable Cam Timing. If you know 100% please post. Thanks. I see no indication on the engine (or the 5.4 T500 engine for that matter) any indication of proportional control valves on the front of the heads or anything of the such in any documentation or photos of the engine other than that specific spec-sheet from Ford I ran across.

I was up at the Popcorn festival on Sunday at a show with the Renegades and there was a guy there with us that had a 2012 GT500. I looked around in the engine bay but I didn't see anything like that. I know the 2013 is a 5.8 but I think the '12's are a 5.4L. If I come across one I'll look around and take some pics.

At last check the 5.8 is based on the 5.4 and isn't running any variable valvetrain. I'm pretty sure on that at least.

Edit - take that back.

Yes. Same doc I was looking at but I am now believing that is a misprint, unlessthey have added it for 2014. All other research has indicated that the 5.8 is as stated a variation of the 4V 5.4 which did not have VCT just as the 4.6L 4V terminator engine did not have VCT. Guess we will find out. One of RTVickers Renegade buds just dropped the dime on cams, springs, and longtubes and midpipe through JDM for his 2013. He is hoping to keep the car "detuned" enough to stay below 850RWHP. He's currently running a 10% overdrive crank pulley/dampener, CAI and tune that kicked the number way up from the stock 662 FWHP. Sure wish I had his TR6060 tranny in my GT.

That has to be a typo on the Ford website. I'll do some more digging to see if I can find out.

You can see in the motor pictures of this 2014 in the link that there are no VCT solenoids present and the valve covers are identical to the 2013, which did not have Ti-VCT either.

If Ford did put the engineering in place for the Ti-VCT on the Trinity Progam, you would have probably seen closer to 700hp since they could have bumped the static compression and use the Ti-VCT to help control the dynamic compression, extend the torque curve and maybe have 1 more mpg highway. They already spent most of their budget on the TVS blower, and already exceeded their power goals, so there wasn't a need to create a totally new head and/or block to continue on.

Uh oh, what are the twins up to. Their cars are top notch and they are top notch people. I don't know too many of the Renegade members but they always make me comfortable being around them.

yip its the twins. JDM cams upgrade, Long tubes, and midpipe. Looking to keep it at 850RWHP max. Then they are "done". You know how that goes with them.

Thanks boss. Appreciate the feedback. I will pass this on. I've looked at lots of pics of the 5.8L GT500 engine and was wondering myself how or where they were hiding the proportional control valves for the VCT if the GT500 in fact had come with it in 2013. I just didn't wan t a friend of mine getting sold a bill of goods on a cam upgrade only to find out he will need many more parts than what he was told. Thanks for checking.
