On I-75 North today and admiring this 2011 Mustang GT with LEGAL CJ on the plate from Michigan and BLUECOLLARPERFORMANCE.COM on the FRONT BUMPER. Dropped back in behind him and then changed lanes to get off at Sharon Rd and the guy runs over some large object (or something flew off the bottom of the car) that then flew up into the air hitting the driver side of my car, taking out the mirror and damaging the driver side door. Guy never even stopped, I know he had to hear it kick up under his car (or fall off as he rolled over it wit hhis DR radial) and then see it come up in the air and hit me as I was swerving to miss it. Thankfully I was able to swerve or it would have come right through the windshield.

If you know him please thank the guy for me. And tell him he owes me $50 for the comprehensive deductible.

Anyone want to tackle painting GHIG and do it spot on? Oh and fix the dents.

Oh man that really sucks. Give your insurance his plate and maybe they can pin it on him. When my windshield got chipped they asked me if I got a plate number or company off the truck.

Already had a response from the sponsor on the front bumper. They are good people. Forwarding the information to him. If the item did not come off his car than it is comprehensive. If it came off his car it may be his responsibility. Just find it awfully peculair that I foollowed him or ran beside him prior to that for a mile or better checking his car out and when this happened he did not so much as touch the brake lights. Had it been me and I saw that happen in my mirror I would have stopped either way just to insure they were okay.

If the dents can be popped out 100% and tghe paint buffed hopefully the black will come off and they can simply fill the couple scratches that are to the metal (small but there) and there won't be a paint match issue. Sure hope three stage is not hard to match up.
PLATED WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You know how to make a guy laugh. It'll be alright. Just got an email from BlueCollarperformance.com. Seemes to be a great group. THey are forwarding my email to the guy who owns the car. Said he was a really great guy. I just would have appreciated him stopping. THere is no way he did not hear it kic kup under his car before it hit mine. He had to see me swerve. Had I not it would have come right through my windshield and over the top or into the car. Was ever bit as bis big as a hubcap or beauty ring if not a piece of exhaust. It hit so hard the only thing left of the mirror was the shell. The mirror is gone, the color match cover is gone, the housing is cracked the mirror mount is broken off, and eventhe little pony light mounted underneath was damaged. Sounded like a bomb when it hit.

Chad as much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he didn't hear, see or feel a thing. People are oblivious to their surroundings these days ya know. Hope you can get it fixed and to your satisfaction.

Thanks. I know I am fortunate I was able to swerve or it could have easily hit hte windshield blinding my vision and making things even worse or even have come through the windshield for that matter Guess my OSCAR like reflexes minimized the damage. Looking closer it may be able to have the dings removed and just fill in the two small scratches that went through the paint to the metal. I hope those black scuffs will buggout okay. Not touching anything, Want he adjuster to see it first hand and get eh appraisal right. Thansk guys.
And yes the mustang light was taken out as well. It might work if you wan to rey to ducy tape it on your car somewhere Tommy. LOL!

Damn that sucks but glad to hear you're alright man!
As for the black marks, take some lacquer thinner and lightly wipe them off. It wont hurt the clear or paint any. If you need a few scratches buffed out I can help ya out there too. You'd owe me a Burger for it though. LoL

Damn Chad, Sorry to hear about the damage.
I took my 2011 Tricoat white F250 to Beechmont ford when
one of my idiots took my mirror off with a pole and damaged the door and fender.
they did a great job I looked and looked at the truck and it was a flawless paint match.

Thanks guys. Got an adjuster coming to give me an estimate and cut a check for it Monday. All I need now to do is get hold of the dealership i am going to. Found out there is still a Ford dealer or two in town that still have on site body shops. So will be going that route. Bluecollarperformance.com got back in touch with me. Great guys and assured me that the guy with the car is a very upstanding guy and he WOULD have stopped had he known. I believe them. They also let me know that they have done some paint matching on GHIG and said it is very easy to do and not difficult. So that is the big big relief. THanks Chris91 for offering up to help out with buffing it out. It should be okay. Thanks and again yes, it could have been much worse. Took a nap, ate some meat loaf sandwiches and its all better now. LOL!
That sucks for sure. Glad your ok. If it came off the road I couldn't see the other guy being at fault but if it came off his car I would think it would be his fault. If it were me I would go back to where it happened and see if you can find the part that hit you. Should be easy to find a GHIG piece of debris in the road. Then you'll know if it came off a car or it was something else.

Dang, that sucks Chad!! Glad you are ok though and nothing came through the windshield. We were on I71 & I75 today and had to avoid a shovel, rake, & cinder block in a 3-4 mile stretch !!!

I know the guy pretty well. I am sure he didn't hear anything. He personally helped me out when I had to work on my car. Knowing him he wouldn't run over anything if he could avoid it. Not anybody's fault, just stupid luck. Hope you get the car together soon.

Similar feedback I got from the speedshop that I contacted.
Of course flying debris off the road is not a person's fault. However loose items falling off one's car is the opertors responsibility. I think it was road debris, but sure seemed to be wafully large for him not to have seen it. That would have generated an attempt to miss it causing him to swerve and he never budged. It was being run over by his passenger rear tire and up in the air in no time. I barely had time to react. Any less tiem and it would have come through my windshield. I may drive back up through there today and see if I can find anything.
For sure chad. That's really the only way your going to prove it came off of his car. With the type of car it looks to be it should be pretty obvious if it came off of his Car not.

Just got an email form the CJ owner. Very nice guy and he said to give a big shout out to FIRESTANG70.
Apparently he ran straight over the top of the item and he wasn't the first to hit it. He must have not had the misfortune I did. SO good to know only one of us took damage.
You are right Dale. He ius a stand up guy. He did not have to contact me but did so even though it was no fault of his. I hold NO ONE accountable aside from it being just an act of god (insurnace term) that caused a comprehensive claim situation. Thankfully I carry very low deductible on my comprehensive for such occasion.

:agree: especially in the mornings.
good luck proving it. I had a guys exhaust come off hit the front of my car. I told him and he wouldn't stop so I called the cops and they told me to turn it into my insurance. I even had his exhaust to prove it. might just be Union Township but I was ticked.

Taking the car over to Castrucci Tuesday. Finally found a dealership with an on site body shop. Also have heard many good things about their body repair work. So yes if you see one at Mike Castrucci missing its driver side EAR its Oscar.

I don't know the deal on those cars. It was plated up and had legal DOT DR's on it. They looked like MT's.

Typically they were drag only cars not meant for the street.... so basically it's a factory build drag race car typically not street legal at all

I thought the same thing. CJs didn't have mirrors, wipers and a lot of other safety equipment. The one pictured has mirrors, at least. I'm left wondering if it is legal to tag one, or is it a fake.
Dale, any input?

Not sure if it's the same guy, but there was one on Pass Time a while ago that looked very similar. The guy wanted a Cobra Jet but wanted to drive it on the street, so he bought an auto GT and put a Whipple and whatnot on it then did the graphics to make the outside look the part. There were never any factory built street legal Cobra Jets.

Bills car was ordered as a base GT. He got the correct body parts Hood, trunk medallion etc. from Ford (he works for Ford). He has a built 5.0 with a Magnuson blower, circle d tc, 6 pt, suspension work, Racestar wheels, DRs for track and street. Car best so far is a 10.3x. Usually runs mid 10s cant remember how many lbs boost. I have tried to talk him into a Whipple to be more correct. He is trying for 9s with that blower and his home shop is a Maggy dealer.

I thought it was a Magneson but figured if he was holding to the CJ design I was seeing things and that it was actually a whipple. Glad he chose not to play when I teased him earlier back before the debris incident if he is running 10.3x's but as quiet as the Roush charger unit is, I could have confessed to only being stock. LOL!
ANY- HOO!!!!! Oscar is back home from the hospital again. His ear is attached and the paint once again looks fresh as before. The guys at Mike Castrucci did an awesome job. Thanks Jon for mentioning them. The blend is impossible to see.
