Is much material taken out during a 3 angle valve grind? Also does the valves recess much more into the head?

They shouldn't as long as you use a reputable shop. Also if it is an overhead cam motor whatever was removed from the seat usually needs to be removed from the valve tip.

Performance Engineering, I'll be stopping there tomorrow. I just want to make sure that I can shim the head with shim range that they make for the Volvo head.

 hopefully everything works out. I usually use Barker Machine & Fab or BES.

I'm sure it will be fine. What I'm having done isn't too extensive and they have a lot of heads they're working on which is a good sign. Sounded like Eric owner??? knew what he was talking about when I talked to him today. I've installed cams before but head work is pretty new to me.
