Ok im finally going to put all my parts on my white gt and I have one final question. The motor is out to swap pans with one I welded a -10 bung on for the oil return line. The motor has highish mileage and the oil pressure stays around 25lbs. I am going to change the pump while its out just because it would be stupid to reuse something that could screw me in the long run. Now with that low of pressure and putting a turbo on it should I run a high volume or high pressure pump? Or just stick with an oe replacement. It will be a melling pump. Its just a little 5 liter and yes it has a stock pan. Thanks guys.

Precision pumps. They make a nice blue printed piece

Been using this pump in about every build I've done and has never let me down! Jack and Ricky also run the same one in theirs... No need for a hi volume.

With that low of oil pressure i would check the
Main and rod bearings while the pan is off

I have another shortblock I'm freshening up with new rod and main bearings. I will pull the rod and main caps to check them just in case. But I was just trying to get it on the road one time before winter hits

Stock is all u want to run in a stock pan unless u wanna suck it dry. Do yourself a favor an put a arp shaft in while u swap pumps it'll save u heartache

I run a melling select standard volume and a arp shaft as well never had a problem but it sounds like the bearings might have some wear

Only 25lbs scares me, its RARELY the pump.... I would check clearances if bearings are newer and pressure is that low....

25 PSI oil pressure at idle is fine. Anything less than 10 at idle, might be an issue.
But, if it's staying at 25 PSI at all RPM's then it would be a problem.
