Hey Mod motor guys.... when replacing the exhaust mani gaskets would you guys still add any sealer to them? I know they're metal but I've seen people use ultra copper still on them. I've never put manifolds or headers on a 4.6 so I'm completely in the dark.... just dont want my exhaust on my Lincoln to leak!

Thanks!

I have in the past just as an extra pre-caution. Are they new gaskets or re-using the old ones ?

I have headers and I didn't use it. We've replaced a few on 2v crown Vic's at work and didn't use it. No issues so far. I don't see what it would hurt if you wanted to use a little for some added insurance.

New felpro gaskets, and new terminator manifolds. I just don't see how thin metal seals as well as its supposed to.

I never used sealer to prevent leaks, but I did use some to hold the gaskets in place while installing headers.

I wouldn't worry about using sealer, I recommend making sure the manifold is flat against the head with gasket in place and tighten evenly with a criss cross pattern

I don't like the felpro gaskets I would sooner just use sealer, Adding sealer to the OEM gaskets seems to work but the percy's gaskets seem to be the best.
As mentioned making sure both surfaces are flat is the important thing.

I used felpor and had no problems, but would rather OEM MLS gaskets if I could find them at a decent price locally when I needed them.

I used a smidge bit of copper RTV to hold them onto the cylinder heads when I was snaking the long tubes in there, one less thing to try and align in the process.

oem for sure... I even re used mine before and they sealed 100%

I couldn't find the multilayer metal ones at the parts store.... so you guys think I oughta bolt em back together with my originals (multilayers) and it will be fine?

That's what I would do.
