Got a person interested in buying my car but he is saying I need to bring the car from Kentucky to Ohio to be inspected by the State Highway Patrol before he can buy it. Is this true that Ohio needs inspections before someone can buy a car from out of state?

You can have the title notarized out of your name and he can take the car to be inspected. Ive done it countless times. It doesnt have to be done at the State Highway Patrol either. Any BMV and most Dealerships can do an out of state inspection. They dont check anything major. They just check to make sure the vin matches the title and I do believe they check the mileage. They then fill out a little form and he takes it to the BMV.

Title division or car dealership can do the state inspection, $3 I think. Then go to title division to have it transferred, walk next door to buy plates.

Now get that all done in 20 minutes, that was a lucky day!!!!!

I used Performance Honda on Rt 4 in Fairfield, then drove up the county title place in Forest Park for the title and pay state sales tax, then next door for plates.

They will do the out of state inspection right at the title office...:bigthumb

And you will generally wait, esp. when it is this cold out.

Drive into the dealership, everything done inside, easy and done.

I just had one done at the BMV and it took every bit of 3 minutes outside. Checked the VIN and mileage and we was back inside. No big deal. $1 a minute!
