I'm interested in seeing where you guys sourced the parts and what it costs to make the switch. Also would like to see where you mounted them.
Thanks

We run "Pantera" coils which are very similar but with a higher output. We run aftermarket engine management so it's a pretty easy conversion. What ecu are you going to run them with?

I have a Holley Dominator in the car with a TFI distributor. I'm looking at switching to CNP. Holley doesn't make a 60-2 for a sbf, so I'm trying to work that out first. I could use my MSD as a cam sync but I'll probably sell it and use something else.

I keep reading that LS truck coils are the hot setup, haven't heard anything about Pantera coils.

Yeah I've talked to him about it. It's crazy tht they don't make a setup like that for a sbf. I'm tired of having to have everything custom made. I'm going to talk to Mikey this week and see what he has to say.
Danny also did a waste fire setup but I'd rather do a CNP, still trying to figure out what Parts Im going to use.

I have the setup off my 94 cobra. Used AEM computer with the AEM EPM. I made a custom wire harness that is plug and play to the ford wire harness and had custom taylor spiro pro plug wires made.

You will need to drive the oil pump anyway so use an AEM epm or a Mallory firestorm dual sync sensor for the cam and crank or use it for cam and use a msd crank trigger. If you are stuck on 60-2 several companies offer them for a ford, AEM included. I have a custom one on the shelf but it wont work unless you have an electric water pump.

These are pantera coils. It is what they run on turbo pro mods.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Adam I'll come down on my next day off an take a look at what you have. I have a remote mount electric water pump, so maybe it would work for me.

I have used the stock coils for quite some time without issue.

Had a guy tell me he's been in the 7's on stock coils but who knows. There's lots of conflicting info on which ones are the best to use. Some guys swear by the LS1's while several guys say the truck coils without heat sinks are the hot setup.

Hey Adam, what are your thoughts on the EPM? Are you using it for cam sync only with a 58x or flying magnet?

I am running one for cam sync only. With an innovators west 4 magnet balancer for crank signal. If you are solid roller they don't make a bronze gear that will last more than a few hits if you are still running an internal oil pump. It is a goofy ass 2 piece shaft. I bought a Mallory Firestorm to test out also. I'm not a huge fan of the sensor inside of the EDIS for the kind of hell my car will put it through. Unless it has recently changed (which is very possible) Holley could not use the crank signal from the EDIS either. For crank sync 4x with a hall effect sensor is flawless even at 10,000 rpm on my junk so I won't be switching any time soon.

ignore this one.

Thanks for the input, I couldn't imagine the EPM being much better than a standard TFI dizzy if at all. It's just an easy way to make the switch.

With the power I plan to make at this point it's not even worth the added cost to do it but once I get an idea in my head it's hard to shake it.

What block are you using? If you are wanting to run coil near plug on an 8.2 deck you can use the explorer cam sensor also. :bigthumb

Early model Windsor here, no such luck.

I wish I would have done more research last year. I had my harness modified for a Milspec connector and now my TFI wiring is hardwired into the bulkhead, so it's not as easy as unplugging the TFI wiring an plugging in the cam/crank harness. That and buying the Pantera or IGN-1a coils and harness. Might just run it like it is for awhile and gather the parts for something to do next winter.
It's going to drive me crazy in the meantime.
