Cutting drag springs

I have a drag launch kit in my car, is it possible to cut the rear springs to drop it about an inch or 2 to level it with the front. The springs have sort of a point they taper down. So will it harm them to cut that off?

If you do cut, just keep the heat to a minimum - use a whiz wheel, never a blue tipped wrench.
