View Full Version : I need your waste oil

For years now I have heated my house with biodiesel that I made from waste vegetable oil. I had about $1/gal in it and I saved a ton of money.

Last year I converted my furnace to burn strait oil of just about any kind. I continued to burn the veggie oil at basically no cost to me (I don't count my time or gas picking it up, it makes me feel better:D).

About a month ago my source for veggie oil decided they were going to sell their oil to one of the big oil collectors and will no longer let me have it. For whatever reason they weren't interested in letting me buy it either.

So, that brings me here looking to see if any of you guys have a supply of waste oil. Motor oil, hydraulic, vegetable, whatever. I don't really want to pick it up a gallon or two at a time but I may have to depending on what I can find.

Let me know what you have.
Thanks

If I was closer you could have mine. I usually give it to the scrap yard where I scrap our other stuff. There is a place not to far that pays like 50-60 cent a gallon for it.

If you can use gasoline or diesel fuel we have 55 gal+ at work that we cant use. Its mixed in a barrel and a few 5gal buckets. It came out of our trucks that someone put the wrong fuel in. Its a barrel mixed with diesel fuel and gasoline mixed.

I didn't say he wasn't! my point is that it would be nice for early members to interact with us newer members....I'm not bashing him geno

Waste oil is selling for over 2 bucks a gallon right now. Damn winter is choking any shop with a burner. Probably won't ease up till everyone's holding tanks are filled and every spare drum is brimmed.

I try to limit myself on here to only posting when I have something constructive or intelligent to say. That's why I don't say much. :D

Anyone close to Dayton, I take waste oil too. I've been heating the garage with it for about 7 years now. Most times I have more than I can use, but some years are leaner.

I seem to always have a few 2 liters of oil hanging around. If I get a bunch, I'll let you know. Morrow is close to my work.
