Getting ready for NMRA Coyote Modified in Florida this week.

The class is limited by power adder size.

We of course opted for the Vortech Unit. It is their TI trim, which is an updated version of their T trim head unit.

The TI is 2 steps down from the YSI, and 1 step down from the JT / Paxton 2200. Hoping this lil blower can do some 8 second damage this season!

Should be interesting. New blower, new fuel, new trans, new tires, new gear, no testing..........

we got in yesterday about 330,

just enough time to get tech'd in and ready to go

got my extended tech for the year which is nice.

have to knock out a few stickers this morning, see how she starts

our cold start tune has been a little tricky, but ken tweaked it about 4 times yesterday and seemed to be much better

now to see what all this transbrake nonsense is about lol

That video actually brings up a good point....testing. Yes Urist and those guys have it easy because they can test year round in New Mexico but you should be damn happy to go to a race with a new, untested setup and come home with a second place finish. Don't bitch because because the other guys have more money.

Now does anyone else find the way Urist blinks to be a little odd?

Actually, they built that car in 4 days.

They had built another car for the class, NMRA wouldn't allow it in, lol.

So, they went with the chassis they already had and slapped it together. It's pretty nice. It's got a Motec system in it. Really good setup.

Stay after it terry ur car moves out!

I think the rules will allow us to be competitive. They had a best of 8.7s this weekend. We were running 9.7's to 9.8's on the 2 step.

In the semi's we turned off the 2 step, and I got the converter as high as it would go to 4500. Dropped the 60's .2 and the 1/4 .4.

We ran a 9.33 to a 9.27, but I had a .046 rt to his .157 r/t. And we were able to win by .047.

Me and brian were really happy with it considering before the race they kept telling us what they were going to change in the finals against urist.

ATF is building me a converter, and we expect that alone to put us in the 8.9 to 9.0 range.

and now, back to coyote modified!

For those that don't know, it's a limited power adder class.

Engine / heads can be anything you want with a coyote, as long as it's 305 or under.

Nitrous - 2900lbs - as much as you can shove in it.

Turbo / Centri - 3250 - limited to inducer size / inlet diameter / turbo size / air to air

PD Blower - 3450 - 2.9 or smaller, stock throttle body, air to water

We opted for the Vortech obviously, which is the new TI Trim blower. It is their revamped version of the T Trim. It fits size wise between the JT and V3 superchargers.

http://site.teambeefcakeracing.com/ti3.jpg

Trans was swapped to a Glide as well. For the first race in Bradenton, we figured out the converter is about 2000 rpms too tight. The boys at ATF are fixing one up for us that should take us up towards the top of the pack.

We were lucky enough to make it to the finals and runner up though, with a hole shot win in the semi finals, putting us 2nd in points after the first race.

Should be a pretty exciting season.

The car ran a best of 9.33@151. That was with a 1.51 60'. With the new converter we are hoping for low 1.3's to high 1.2's and some 8.9's to 9.0's. Along with a few other tweeks, hopefully some 8.7's to 8.8's.

http://site.teambeefcakeracing.com/bradenton2014.jpg

In addition, at the race we unveiled a new look on the car for the season. The guys at Vortech / Stainless Works / Exedy / UPR Products and Finish Line Performance all came on board for another season and a fresh look.

yes,

we will keep the red one until the 2015 comes out, then swap to the s550 platform for testing and parts development

thanks,

it was only me and brian at this race, everyone else was still getting their cars ready, should be out at Atlanta

did find this air shot, not a lot, but not bad for only a 1.51 60'. Once the converter goes in, she should come up nice

.046 r/t for me 1.51 60'
.155 r/t for him 1.30 60'

nitrous car so he pounded it out of the hole,

9.33 for me
9.27 for him

hole shot win by like .045 or something like that

I think he had fuel pump issues on the big end as well that slowed him down a couple mph, my car 2nd halfs really well. the new converter should fix the first half

That is a fantastic light beef! My best was in the .020's on a pro tree, but that was rare. I'm impressed. Cool to see some nitrous cars in the mix, but I won't be one of them, I've decided to go turbo.
Congrats again man.

I don't Cameron, I know he hadn't even tried his 2nd stage yet, that's where it will get interesting, he has a 350shot on the 2nd stage, lol.

How much can a 5.0 take? dunno....

If I can consistently hit .04's to .06's on .400 pro tree, i'll be happy with that. I'm hoping for a little better though with the new converter ;)

If the rules dont change, I think the nitrous combos will end up on top. It is just a matter of figuring out how to stuff an unlimited amount of nitrous into a 5.0. As far as I understand it you can run 2 stages and any config you really want. Direct port and a fogger combo should do pretty nicely with a 2 stage progressive controller. Not that building a 302 race motor is cheap, but compared to building up a coyote for this class, I'm not sure I'd want to spend the time and money on the testing to figure it out and chance building multiple Coyote motors considering the costs involved.

the nitrous will def be the most "lethal" combo, for sure I think.

we have pushed much more hp through the engine on a s/c.

they say you can only stuff so much spray through 5.0 liters, we'll see I guess lol
