I follow Dave Ramsey's FB page and one of his recent articles describes how he actually recommends going through an insurance broker rather directly through an insurance agent. I'm struggling to find the article now, but his reasoning is basically that brokers are going to fight to get you more discounts and have more insurance companies to choose from.

I currently have State Farm today and got my current policies with costs and would like to see what else is out there. I have been very happy with State Farm after switching from All State, but it never hurts to look I don't think.

Does anyone know of an honest, fair broker for Home and Auto insurance that I can reach out to?

Chris Heiny -Allstate, his office is located in the Cherry Grove Plaza right off of 275 behind Chipotle. Good honest guy through my dealing so far (about 4 years), his whole family works there. We have auto and home through him.

I called Ohio Insurance Agency over in Mt. Healthy... although I cant remember if they do just auto, or more than that. You'd have to call em.

Thanks, but looking for a broker. I liked All State, but made the switch to State Farm about a year ago because they were way cheaper. I called Limes and Riffle today as they were the first ones to show up in Yellow Pages. She's going to get me a quote and get back to me monday or tuesday.

I have an uncle that works for state farm and he has told me to shop around every year. Take your policies and call around. I don't know it all but I would think bringing a 3rd party into it would raise prices. They can't be working for free. Keep us posted on what you find out though cause I like saving money.

You're very right, I'm sure the brokers get their fees somewhere. As long as it's cheaper for me in the end I don't care to pay their fee. You also raise a great point of why I think a broker makes more sense. You can request them to check around annually to see if anyone has better rates for you.

Yeah. I just get with the big guys every year. Had progressive for 3 years now. Auto, home and renters. You could make up a generic email with your info and send it off to some local agents and tell them to work you up a quote... If you're looking to save time

USAA !!! They act as a broker and put together the policies and get you Great Rates ...
If an immediate family member is a Veteran, They can get you a code to sign up ...
We have been with them for years and have never had any issues or found cheaper rates for the amount of coverage ...

Just my $.02 ...

Correct. I didn't realize they did auto/home. I thought it was just life insurance. So many options!

I thought they had to sign up while on active duty to be able to get USAA, or am I mistaken?

I called them yesterday and even though I didn't finish my full term, since I received an honorable discharge I still qualify. I think my DD214 is in the basement of my parents house so I'll be hitting them up this weekend. The rep told me they need to know the exact year and month of separation.

The only thing that sucks about USAA is that they don't cover motorcycles... I pay $827 a year as it is while being bundled with State Farm. If I had to get individual insurance on the bike with someone else I can see a raping about to happen :/

I used Ingram Disney and Cincinnati insurance when i had my home. It's on Beechmont behind Anderson McDonald's.

We use Cincinnati also, for about 20 vehicles, home and business. They have always been the lowest for us and it is a real PIA to hunt for business insurance.

If you still need some help, I have a guy in dayton/jamestown. He's my friends dad, and knocked my insurance to full coverage on my 12' truck, 13' suv and special on the svo down to 130/month. That's with the wifey having a dui in last 5 years. After that, was talking below 100/month. Good deals on home insurance too, but not using till dui drops off. If your interested I'll pm you his info
