My Saleen has been down since the end of last summer. The dreaded 2v chatter got worse and I parked it. I got a couple opinions and the thought was a rod bearing.
I was hopeful that is may be the timing chain guides/tensioner. Jeff at Precision pulled the front cover and everything looks brand new.

We kicked around new Ford long block, Cobra shortblock or forged build. After finding that Ford wants $3,500 for a complete longblock, and you never know what you will get with used ...forged build it was!

I bought a low mileage '03 Cobra crank and flywheel, and Performance Clinic is rebuilding the motor with forged internals.
I plan some other small mods, and hopefully swap the 3.27 for 3.73 gears.

The motor got dropped off to them today. Hope to have the Saleen back in action soon.

He's running a 2v though.

Anything done to the heads on the Saleen? I know where a set of MHS Stage 2's are for $750.

They are stock heads. They are going to rebuild them. I contemplated a cam swap before I found out the motor needed rebuilt. I was only going Stage 1 or 2.

I have made some intercooler/heat exchanger improvements as my IAT were high before.
If these improvements cure the high temps, Jeff can play with timing. I'm hoping for 400 whp.

Yeah it has been sitting since last year. I bought the Harley truck and was content with it for awhile. My wife was sick of putting $100 a week in gas in it.

Sold the truck, bought her a Jetta GLI and fixing the Saleen.

Bad experience with Performance Clinic?? They are building the motor for what a stock long block would cost. They are actually doing alot of work to it. It will be a brand new long block when they are done.
It will be back in action soon, I plan on driving it alot more!

I know a few people who have had bad experiences with them but I've never used them for anything.

I have a few buddies that Performance Clinic has done work for and they are pleased. One will be out in X275 this year at the XOS races so we'll see how it does.

I stopped in today and dropped off the Cobra crank and flywheel. They had the heads off and cleaned up. The cylinders were getting machined.
They are ordering pistons and rods tomorrow.

Pistons were on back order. They are wrapping up the motor build. Jeff should have it back this week.

Motor is at Precision. Jeff ordered the clutch/3.73 gears and ARP flywheel bolts today. I'm hoping to have it this weekend.

If u wanna yank that 3.27 out and bring it over to me in Batavia. I'll send u back home w/ a 3.73.

Man, I wish I would have known sooner! They are installing 3.73 as part of the work I'm having done.
The clutch shipment put the completion back several days. The clutch was ordered from Summit, but shipped snail mail from California, cause Summit did not have one in stock.
The motor was in and the gears were being done Thursday.

Should be wrapped up on Monday. Some drive/dyno time and it will be back home.

I spoke to Jeff today. Motor ready to fire. Boost/wideband gauges in, Cobra intercooler pump installed, heat exchanger high speed fans installed.
He was finishing the ring and pinion.
Some drive time and oil change tomorrow then dyno time.
