Got a pair of swaybar relocation brackets and was putting them on today when we cam e to find out that because of the heavier rear sway bar on the 2013 GT mustang (larger in dia than he 05-09 by .250"+) the sway bar won't clear the LCA relocation brackets on the car. So I have one of two options if I wish to run a 15" wheel on the back.

1.) Run the LCA relocation brackets with an 8" wheel running either a MT ET Street Radial 275/50/15 or similar size MT ET Street bias ply

2.) Remove the LCA relocation brackets, install the swaybar relocation brackets, and run the 15x10 wheel with MT ET streets or street radials in a wider size.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

BTW - to run 15x10 rims on a 05+ mustang GT swaybar relocation is required. The change is to make clearance.

Could you switch to the smaller diameter swaybar?

Thought about that Jeff but wasn't sure how it would effect handling. I may try that. Couldn't cost too much to pull one off at a junk yard.

I wouldn't know about the handling.....now that I think about it, I've never even sat in a S197, LOL .

I will advise you to try spelling advice.

Can either of the parts be modified (safely) to work with each other?

What size tire are you thinking about if you run a 15 x 10 rim?

The tires on the wheels are 295/55/15's. The setup was on a 2011 car that was not running LCA relocation brackets.

I just got off the phone with BMR and they made a few optional suggestions along with a $420 alternative on a sway bar kit that uses the BMR relocation brackets. Since then I have also stumbled onto a 17x9.5" setup that is available (needs no sway bar relo bracket kit to clear) running 295/45/17 Et Street Radial II's and in very good condition. I may just buy those and then sell the Race Stars with the MT Et Street Radials on them for what I paid for them used.

Why not? If for instance the control arm brackets just need a corner rounded off or there's a spot where a little meat could be taken out.. then why not... So long as it doesnt make the part unsafe or unusable I dont see the harm.

You don't need the sway bar for dragstrip. When you bolt on the drag radials, take off the sway bar!

As an alternative , you might be able to move the sway bar mounting points to clear everything. Have any photos of your set-up?

^^^ If only that easy Dave. The clearance problem on newer mustangs being fit with 15" wheels is not the sway bar itself but the bracket on the rear end where it mounts. A 15X10 wheel sits in far enough that there is interference between the mounting plate for the sway bar on the rear end and the rim. The relocation bracket repositions the sway bar inboard and up slightly placing it closer to the center of wheel rotation. The bracket then exposes a portion of the original mounting surface than is then cut off with a wiz wheel.

I have pretty much decided that I will likely get brave and attack the interference area with a grinder both on the sway bar (about 3mm or .120") and do a little mod work on the relo bracket as well and make clearance as Jessie has been egging me on to do.

Yeah, if you already have the 15x10 setup... fabricating the fitment should be fine. paint your bare metal when your done to avoid rust and for a nice finish

Call Rob at Rogue Race Cars, he just did Terry's car with his suspension issue and now terry is doing better than ever before from what I understand.

There was a newer black gt at the cruise that looked like it had 15x10 wheels with 275/60 drag radials and from what I got from him, he didn't have the relocation brackets on.
