I have a 302 set up with 70mm, 160 degree thermo, stock radiator and fan on a 95 cobra. Question is, how hot is it supposed to get?? I am seeing temps around 205? I recently added a electric auto meter gauge, but my stock temp gauge in the cluster never got above the "O"?? I know stock cluster gauges are crap, but is this a normal occurrence? Or should I ditch the termo and run a restrict in the water neck?

Can you tell if the fan clutch is engaging?

Have you checked the thermostat?

Does water circulate, when the thermostat is open?

It has an electric fan, it will idle at 150-160, goes to 205 when cruising. Both hoses feel about the same temps

My buddy has a twin turbo fox that has a be cool radiator and dual spal electric fans in a aluminum shroud and his car runs a constant 200 or more but his 5" thick intercooler keeps it from getting any fresh cool air

I had the same issue when I first built my turbo car. Would stay around 205-210. Give it any gas or make a small pull and it would skyrocket. Tried everything. Finally took the thermostat out and had the fan come on at 180. Car always ran right around 180-185 after that even after making passes.

Thats my issue, I have the trans cooler and I have about a 5" thick intercooler. As far as removing the thermostat, did you do a lot of street duty with yours Jim? How would make the fan come on at 180? take it back to the tuner?

I drove it all the time when the weather wasnt bad. To and from work and sometimes to and from the track. Just took a little bit to warm up when it was chilly out. Yea your tuner can adjust your fan settings.

Any idea what causes the almost immediate increase in temp? Mine sort of did this until I put a much larger radiator in it.

I did a much larger radiator, rerouted coolant lines, moved the trans cooler. All kinds of things. Nothing changed till.I took the thermostat out and changed the fan settings.

im glad to see im not the only one that has encountered this. Im thinking about buying a much bigger radiator, since mine sees more street than strip.
