So I got my woman an MG Midget for a winter project, and it currently has a 2.3T from an 88 Turbo Coupe sitting in it. I'm going to use the original engine, and have no need for this one. The engine supposedly ran, but I've not personally heard it. It has everything from turbo, intercooler, etc. There is no ECU or wiring harness. Make a reasonable offer. I also have a 5-speed trans, has provision for a slave cylinder, so I'm guessing it's ranger, if interested. There is also a set of electric fans that come with it.

Lol! Come on up! A couple of bolts (literally) and a hoist, it's out and ready!

If it's still around at Xmas, I could grab while I'm visiting family.

If someone doesn't buy it quick, I'll buy something to put it in...

I like your thought process.

I'd use it in the MG, but she doesn't want to modify the hood to clear it. It'd be pretty counterintuitive to buy another car just for this engine, considering I have a big block I need to buy a car for...

The turbo coupe thunderbirds were hydraulic clutches, doubtful it's a ranger POS trans. More than likely it's a tbird T5.

Pretty sure a TC T-5 physically looks similar to a Mustangs, which is dimensionally too large to fit the stock MG tunnel. This is freaking tiny. Has a ball/socket shifter, not a rectangular 4-bolt like a T-5. The shift rod runs back up the tailshaft into the trans itself, unlike a T-5. Has the casting of 74WT 7006 on the case, 75WT etc on the tag. It's irrelevant, I just want this thing out of my way.

Wow. Could be from a ranger or even an old mustang 2?

I'm thinking it's an old SROD.

Good call, prob a pinto trans? They mated to a 2.3 and were very small and fragile.

Sold to Bruce Gould, who identified the tiny trans as a Pinto 4-speed.

He'll put it to good use in sure, the engine that is.

Could be a Merkur trans since its a 2.3 turbo . The t9 trans looks just like a Pinto box but has a spacer between the case and the tailshaft for 5th gear .
