The 2015 "Dirty Dozen Challenge" Rules and Discussion Thread

I was actually thinking about that. It's so hard to get a race going. Let's say Mike is busy or he can't fix is brakes but beefcakes at the track. If that person beats him then hes #1 but if that person loses then what happens? This is my idea. Only because we've had so much trouble getting races together. The person loses to beefcake but has a faster ET than Mike. That person goes to the #2 spot. If he's slower than Mike he goes to the #3 spot. This also stops people having to drop completely off the list if their car breaks. Just thinking out loud.

The rules cover that. If u call me out and I cant make the race. U make a pass and u win. If u race beef and lose, then u have to race me to be 2cd. I think until the list is full, if u race a high spot and lose, u take the first open spot on the list, which in this case is 3rd. Races are gonna happen or spots move around. I cant wait to defend my spot. Dont need brakes to win. Lol. Thats what the sand is for. (Big talk, I'm fixing them this weekend.)

After thinking about this last night and rereading it this morning, I think we are pretty much on the same page. Only thing is, this isn't an et list, so et's don't enter the equation. So that's why I said they go to the first empty spot. I don't want anyone to get tossed off the list if their car can't make a call out, however, they should drop a spot if they are called out. Breaking is part of racing, but if they never get it fixed, they will eventually be called out off the list, or just bumped off since they can't defend their spot.

I'm thinking about putting some money up to get this list motivated. My plan is that everyone that is on the list at the end of the season, hopefully 12 people, we put all their names in a hat, and let a stranger pick one name, and they get the pot. We could get sponsors on the board and members to donate to the till and keep a running tab on it. What say you all?

Ok, so I defended my #2 spot tonight against cameron, he's now #3. So we have beef at 1 me at 2 and cam at 3. Tomorrow night i hope we have 3 or 4 more on the list and we can start having some more fun! This is a rush, I'm tellin ya. I don't care if I get smoked! I gave it my all.

So, went to install my new harness last night and guess what? Wasn't able to install them, they were suppose to be the ones that the shoulder harnesses wrap around the back roll bar and they were the bolt-in. I know things happen but I'm on a tight schedule to get this car out as it is!

Yep, I feel your pain. Installed the c4 and the stock shifter will not work. The cable bracket wont work and the cable is way too long. So I have to buy a hammer shifter and a c4 install kit. Sheesh it never ends.

On another note, I got the line lock in the LX tonight, and replaced the leaking frickin fittings on the side of the trans with the correct ones, and now no leaks. Took my wife for a ride in it, Hit it going down the street, it went into all the gears solid and hit the tires hard. I turned onto the straightaway, hit it again, tires started slipping, then hooked. Got to the end of the street and turned around, came up, straightened it out, hit the transbrake, floored it, let go the trans brake and the car hooked and took off. Each shift it dropped the rpms down and the car just pulled like a freight train. I officially call it good! It's fixed.

Well, it's official, I hate automatics. The valvebody and transbrake are screwed and might have taken all my new parts with it. Im pulling it out and sending it back and the inspecting all my internal trans parts to make sure nothing is damaged. Sucked, as I was really pumped up to run some good times. It ran like a beast on the street, but the transbrake quit working at the track and then bogged the engine down worse and worse each pass. It got to the point it would kill the engine when it went into gear. One of the few times the brake worked, it only stalled to 2k. So the thing left like a slug. One extreme to another, it sucks.

Do yourself a favor and put a th400 in it. I had a PA supercomp c4. I got tired of pulling it and sending it back for warrenty work all the time. Did a ExtremeAutomatics th400 and never had another issue.

That sucks man,I feel your pain! I went through the whole C4 thing with the coupe,never again! Whats up with the aod that was in it? That's a much stronger trans to start with, especially since its got the most expensive part already in it(valve body).

Thanks chad and Jim. I'm going to take it down to Allen and we are going to tear into it and he's going to cut the converter apart. I want to address the trans brake issue in the valve body and get that working, not sure what's up with why it's not. The converter is def shot in it, as it wouldn't rev past 5200, and the C4 revved to 6k+ with no tune changes. And it made 20 more hp as well. I got the power up over 400 rw, and was expecting a really good night. The valve body has been acting up with the button not needing to be pushed for reverse, it went right in without it, then the trans brake stopped working right, I needed to activate the brake with the button to get reverse again, but put it in first and hit the brake, and nothing. Now, it makes a good awful noise in gear and has a stall of 800, yep, 800, give it any fuel and the engine just bogs until it reaches 2000 rpms and then it starts to run decent again. I'm pulling the brake and valve body out and getting a better unit this week.

I do not know if the guy is on here I talked to at Kil Kare Thursday, he is from Delaware Oh and has a 90-93 coupe with a 331 and 76 mm turbo, he made a nice 9.83 pass.

Looking for some advice concerning my runs. So I'm asking some questions and looking on the internet at some calculator comparisons, the car running the E.T.'s and MPH tells me with the combination of ring & pinion, tire height and trans that I should only be trapping about 5500 RPM's approximately. Well, I'm crossing at about 6600 RPM's give or take, I'm shifting from low into high at about 6800-7000. Does this sound like a loose converter to anyone else, give me some insight.

I don't know how much a steeper gear would help on the big end I know it would tighten it up a little down low because it would put less load on the converter to get the car moving, call ptc they will point you in the right direction and are real nice guys
