Is this truck seriously this quick?

They are fast.

Screw the turbo 6- I'd get a 5.0 and put a twinscrew blower on it. More simple, more power, more better.

Considering the weight and displacement that one strong little motor.

IWRBB

It's the second gen Ecoboost. CGI block with an aluminum lower support. Pretty crazy. It has the stop/start stuff- which since it isn't a hybrid, the starter is doing the work. Not big on that. Ford has the 2nd gen 3.5 coming out in the Raptor and GT. The are claiming at least 450HP+ in the Raptor and 600+ in the GT.

Check out the pictures and article on the 2.7 here => http://articles.sae.org/13388/

I'd still but the V8 and put a blower on it. Turbo engines are problematic in my experience. More stuff to fail, more piping to leak, rough on the oil, on and on. I keep my stuff too long to buy something like that.

As powerful as the ecoboost are i don't buy fuel mileage claims. Seems like most people I've talked to my who have crew cab 4x4s don't see any better fuel mileage than the coyote powered equivalents...especially when towing.

IWRBB
05-05-2015, 02:25 PM
Towing yeah, it evens the mileage, or even tips it in the favor of the V8.

Unloaded, I've read about 28 MPG on the highway for the 2.7 EB (about 21-22 MPG overall) from owners on a couple forums. That's pretty damn good and the 5.0 can't touch it.

I cannot say anything for the 2.7 but ,my 3.5 is going strong, and with some mods and tune really wakes up! I drive short distances for work so my mpgs are lower end but its a blast to drive!

I was thinking more of the 3.5 instead of the smaller engine.

5.0 with a TVS is an easy 550+ HP.

The real issue I have is the price. The new f150s are ridiculously expensive. I was looking at an XL with a few options and it was approaching $50k. I can get in to a nicer Ram 2500 with the cummins for that kind of money.

This whole "it's too expensive" is BS. Ford knows what they can sell trucks for. Why get a in a tizzy about the price of a fully loaded Lariat? It's nearly the most expensive F150 you can buy. It has way more options and features than any other truck ((and nearly all cars too!) on the market.

So on your neighbors truck- it's not an "XLT Lariat." Those are two different packages. $66k? You sure about that? The base Lariat 4x4, crew cab with 6.5' bed is $48K, the 501A package puts it around $50K, and the 502A puts it about $52K. Add in every other option possible and you hit $62K. Even with destination charges, $66K seems impossible to me for a Lariat. I've seen lots of Platinums (one step up from the Lariat) on the lots in the low 60s. Lariats are usually low 50 to high 50s, rarely over 60K.

Lets compare it to my old rusty steel F150. My 2000 F150 4x4 supercab short bed stickered for $32K as an XLT with a couple small options. If you build a similar 2015 on Ford's site, you come in at $40K. An $8K price jump over 15 years for a truck that much safer, all aluminum, has more power, better brakes and way, WAY more features than mine, I think that's quite reasonable. Really, I'd need to spec the 2015 as an XL to get a really comparable truck to my 2000. An XL with the off road package and chrome package is $39K. Only a $7000 increase (25%) over 15 years, and still a better truck all the way around.

Let's compare that 8K price jump in 15 years to what the Mustang prices have done in the last dozen years:
03 Cobra $34K. 2013 GT500 $55K. $21K (62% increase)
03 GT $24K 2015 GT $33K. $9K (38% increase)
Both are much larger % increase in price over a shorter period of time.

Link doesn't work. When I do a search on Cars.com in a 30 mile radius the most expensive 2015 is a $63K King Ranch. The most expensive Lariat is $59,650. Again, I doubt the 66K Lariat sticker, but I could be wrong. Maybe, yea- probably not.

I see F150s for over 80K, but that are not as Ford delivered them. They have aftermarket wheels, tires, lifts, hoods, etc. That's not even new, the one you linked- and they can ask whatever they want for it, right?

Tell ya what- just snap a pic of your neighbors sticker and I'll say I'm wrong, how's that? I still maintain a 66K Lariat is not possible. Go try and build you one on Ford's site and tell me how much you can get it up to, even if you add ALL of the stupid shit like the $1000 hard tonneau.

You haven't proven anything Aaron. You've linked to a 2014 truck to prove 2015 pricing. Massive fail right there, but you are oh so proud of your find!

You SAID your neighbor bought a $66K Lariat. That proves nothing. My neighbor bought a $80K Geo Prizm. You believe me? Prove he didn't. See what I'm saying?

AGAIN- show me a 2015 Lariat F150 anywhere in the country (as delivered by Ford , with no dealer Bro-Dozer add-ons) that has a $66K stick price or above, and I'll admit I'm wrong. You haven't done that- and I maintain you can't.

You are the one that came out shouting $66K XLT Lariat with Ecoboost blah blah blah from the hills!

I knew right away you were full of it for that price. I called you on it, but you maintained you were correct post after post.

Now, you admit, you don't REALLY know what he bought other than it's a 2015 F150. Could be a Platinum with every option on the sheet. Who knows? I'm glad you are finally seeing that I'm right- that indeed there are NO lariats that expensive and you aren't happy about the fact that your elusive $66K Lariat does not exist- as I've said from the start.

I see your kind on the web every day ...
I mean I offered $100 that you wouldn't call me a name to my face that you say on the internet ... And Again I was Right ...

Ask anyone on here that know me, They know I'll say to your face anything I say on the web ... I don't hide behind it ...
But at least now I know how you are ...

Dude, I'm not trying to boost my ego. I was enjoying going back and forth about the pricing on the particular models, since yes, I did know it all beforehand because I researched the new F150s months ago, then decided against a new truck. I knew your neighbor probably had a Platinum at that price, and was poking the fire with a stick, but, hey- whatever. If everything has to come down to who can kick who's ass on this site, what's the point? I just don't get it sometimes.

Don't take it personally- you are the one who went down that road first. I'm keeping my 2000 F150. New trucks cost too much.

Nobody mentioned kicking anyone's Ass ...
It's simply don't say Shit on the internet that you won't say to someone's face ...

But I see now that's how you work ... Hide behind the screen until called on it and then http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/icebear713/smilies/backpeddling.gif

You are right Aaron- I wouldn't call you an ass-munch to your face. I consider that quite disrespectful and would not say that to someone I didn't know very well unless I planned to get into it. Again, I was having some fun here, I'm not trying to start a damn war over the price of a F150.

Yep ... Found quite a few F150s for over $65,000+ MSRP ...
Even a 2014 with an MSRP of $67,934 ...
But what do I know ... LOL

I knew you were giving the right price- I didn't doubt the $66K number at all. The Lariat thing, I guess I could have cut ya some slack on that. The Lariats were the models I was looking at so I knew they couldn't be that much.

So did we figure out a price LOL :D

The $66K MSPR is right- it's likely a platinum or King Ranch model though.

I built my dream truck a few days ago when I was bored. I have a F450 I use for work and the thing is a beast. So if I ever win the lottery, 76k will get me a completely loaded F450 platinum. It's stupid if a loaded F150 costs 10k less.

How about $46k for a truck with a rubber floor. I think we paid $34k for the 250 we bought last year.
