Aaron here are some pictures of where I went. You may recognize some of them. Goal was to see the New River Gorge bridge but we got so much more! Neat little towns with a lot of hillbilly's!!

My grandfather was night shift foreman at the New River coal company until it shut down ...
You were all over my old Stompin Grounds ...
And if you went past the Smiling dish, Depending on which way you either went into Oak Hill or were coming out of it ...

That's my Grandfather standing in the middle in the light colored shirt and white helmet with his hand on his hip ...
And if you look at the bottom you'll see the Oakwood Mine Night Force 1955 ...

I had to take the picture off the wall to get back far enough to get the entire thing in the pic ... It's a little over 5' long !!!

That's bad ass Aaron!! You can tell your related! Hell it looks almost dead on you.

It was a very cool place. Some of the friendliest people I have met have been from West Virginia. Always willing to wave and talk.

Coming across 612, I was headed west. Trying to get back to 64. There was some very neat places there that's for sure!

We went past the Whipple Company store also but I didn't get any pictures of it. So much history there that's for sure!

I am heading to West Virgina in a few weeks to the Chincoteague Pony Swim on some Island. Anybody ever been ? That is one area of the country I have never been and know nothing about! From the pictures it looks like it is going to have some cool scenery

Yep Main St. through Oak Hill is 612 ...
I haven't been down there in almost 3 years, So I'm sure some things have changed ...

At his funeral they had pics from throughout his life and I was overwhelmed with people saying how much we looked alike ...

The pony swim is Cool ... I went to it in 88 ...
Very Cool scenery once you get into the mountains of Southern West Virginia ...

Cincoteague is in Virginia over on the coast. We was going to go down that direction through the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel but went through Williamsburg instead.

It was! We had a great time. Wish I could've spent more time and not rushed around. We went 1600 miles during the week and we was wore out though.
