And it works! I had a C4 we pulled out of a guys car and took in as a core for the C4 we sold him just laying around. Had no idea what was wrong with it other than there was no 3rd gear. The AOD in the turbo car had some issues, so the other day I searched the web and found some videos of how to rebuild a C4. The guy is french canadian, so the videos are interesting to watch as it's like listenimg to pepe le pew tell you how to rebuild a trans. Lol. I took apart this so called 'hi perf' c4 and found pretty much all stock parts with a shift kit. I decided it was going together with some better parts. I ordered a transbrake reverse manual valve body, and red clutches. Then after talking to dirty dog, I ordered an intermediate band billet servo kit. I followed the assembly video and got it all back together. The converter is a pinkish color, so not sure who's that is?, but it seems in good shape.
After installing the C4 linkage kit and wiring up the transbrake, we put fluid in it and fired it up. It went into 1st gear! Checked the fluid and added some more, got it topped of, a little overfull, but not too bad. Put it in reverse, hit the transbrake and it went into reverse! Woohoo! Put it into 1st and pulled out on the street drove it down the side street and it went Into every gear! I stopped and turned around, got it straight, pushed transbrake button, slowly increased rpms and let off the brakes. I floored it, saw about 2 or 3 lbs of boost and let the button go. It instantly bkew the tires off and hit the shiftlight. Woohoo! Everything seems to work now. I am going to give ev=rything a once over and snug it all, then install the linelock and take it testing. Wish tristate would reopen. But anyway my first auto build works, at least initially. Lol.

The converter in my Lincoln is a pinkish color too. I forget the brand name of them though.

I was thinking precision converters were pink. Nice job on the auto Mike, nothing like that feeling of success first time out!

I don't have a C4 but I do have a TH400 I wouldn't mind learning on, I guess I should check out some videos myself?

By the way, good job Mike.

Thanks everyone. I've built a lot of manuals over the years and I used my trans bench to build it on. Worked out good for me. The video is pretty straightforward. I took the auto trans class at sinclair that Mike used to teach, cant remember his last name, so the rrans parts were familiar as at least. Couple that with my supplier connections and it all came together. Buying a well made valve body is the key I think. I will know more tomorrow when it goes on the dyno.

I took it out again tonight just to give Donna a ride in it. That transbrake is the shit. I'm sold. When I let go of that button, it flat hooked and went on the street with drag radials. Nothing like it. I can't wait to see if it positively or negatively effects the et's. Hoping it's positively effected.
