Thoughts, Good, Bad, Indifferent ???

Donald Trump: I Like a Lot of what he is saying, I have also said for years that we need a Businessman as President ...

Carson: is a Very Intelligent Man, But he's somewhat of a Religious Nutjob (My Apologies to any Religious Nutjobs  ) But the Young Earth thing really gets me, With him being a Neurosurgeon ...

HilldaBeast: She needs a Bullet between the eyes, And I can't imagine how Fu©€ed Up this Country will be if she's elected ...

These are the Only Candidates I see being relevant at the moment, But feel free to add others ...

These are my personal feelings and not what I expect others to think ...

Hopefully we can keep this somewhat civil !!!

Hillary for Prison!!! I don't know how anyone could vote for her. Im sure they will though. We ended up with Obummer twice now...

Trump seems to say what everyone wants to hear. And I like that. Now if he can only follow thru with everything he says.

Carson just hits me wrong for some reason.

Don Trump - Still has my interest. Not a politician, and who could seriously buy him on anything from a lobbyist standpoint? Then again everyone has their price.

Carly Fiorina - a strong minded business person. Not a politician. Formerly CEO of HP. Can stand her own even in the face of The Donald.

Ben Carson - yet again, not a politician. Smart man but fear he is to soft hearted. Otherwise no issues

Bobby Jindal - The one of two current running politicians I do like. Has pretty much told Obama and big government to pack sand on most issues.

Scott Wilson (I mean Scott Walker Thanks Aaron) - Great man as far as politicians seem to go. Has done good things in Wisconsin in my opinion. But I don't seem him going the distance.

Rick Perry - GONE AND GOODBYE.

Jeb Bush - Loved George W, had no use for the first Bush and even less for this one. Enough bush already.

The others? Don't care at this point.

Hillary? What a source for bad jokes.

I'm guessing that you meant Scott Walker ???
I don't think Walker has a shot, Too Much Uncertainty in him IMO ...

Fiorina: Oh Hell No !!! LOL

Jindal: Too Much of a Career Politician, Which I believe is why this Country is in the shape it's in ...

I'd like to see Every Career Politician get booted from Every Office ...

I was really pulling for Rand Paul since he was the only candidate that wasn't promising some combination of increased war, debt, spending, death, corporate welfare, private welfare, taxation, and regulation but his pandering to the religious right as of late really bothers me. I've always says he plays the game a whole lot better than his father ever did but it's beginning to make me question his integrity a Libertarian-like candidate. If the trend continues I'll be casting my vote for Gary Johnson again in 2016 provided to accepts the party's nomination to run.

In the last couple of years I had been following Rand and before him Ron but I don't think either of them can ever garner enough support. I also really liked Rubio, a few yrs ago he made some really heart felt speeches about the country and got my attention. I like the idea of a man who doesn't feel the need to pander and pretty well tells it like it is and that's part of the reason I'm considering Trump. He is a man of action and gets shit done, nobody can take that away from him. He seems to care about the country and although he isn't everything I'd like to see in a candidate, I believe he's a big step in the right direction. I also like Carson, although he's got a rough road ahead of them, I think he may be too much of a nice guy for a job like that.

draggin50
09-16-2015, 01:43 AM
I liked Rubio's speech on Iran.

I still think Trump is the only one with the majority of what I want to see happen. He may not be the best for the job, but better than the others. Im tired of the lifetime politicians... They aren't fixing shit. It needs a whole house cleansing!

It's become a Shame that we are left choosing the Lesser of two Evils versus the Best Person for the Job ...

But that's what has happened with all the Career Politicians ...
I think there should be term limits on Every Office, From Mayor to President ...
I believe that Term Limits would help get this Country back in line ... Too easy for these life long politicians to be bought buy special interests, And work for them instead of Us !!!

I agree with you 100%, but the same can be said about any candidate. Sadly, the idealistic politicians such as Rand Paul are demonized by both the left and right as kooky, therefore rarely get taken as seriously as they should be.
My thoughts have always been that if you think you should be president, then you probably shouldn't.

If i believe Mark Levin, her instructions from the GOP were to go after Trump.
As a Marine, you are probably on my train of thought as to what leadership should entail. Rand Paul stands for what he believes in, not for what he's told to. IMHO leadership, real fucking leadership, not the horseshit that Nora O'Nazi, or Gayle Winfrey would have you believe is leadership, is embodied in 2 words. Only two: FOLLOW ME.

Unfortunately, electing a president is only part of the solution. Congress is a bigger problem. Only about 10% of the Congressional districts are truly competitive after two decades of state legislatures drawing "safe" districts for their party. Ohio and Florida are great examples of this. The Florida electorate revolted and adopted an amendment to the state constitution mandating fair and competitive districts whenever possible. The Florida legislature ignored the law when drawing the present districts and the state supreme court ordered new districts be drawn. The legislature was called into special session this summer and did nothing. The state supreme court is now going to re-do the districts. The leaders of the Florida house and senate should be in jail for contempt of the court order.

And, I have to ask, what has Trump done other than making money for himself? Any multi-millionaire or billionaire is equally qualified. He is a joke and evidence of how broken the political process is currently.

What has Obama done? He has run a great country into the ground. He has lost our standing with our allies and given our enemies a pass to become bolder. We're now looking down the nuclear gun barrel of Iran. He has ruined our health care system. He has turned his back on our police. He has also completely turned his back on our only friend in the Middle East, Israel. Oh yea, he's gutting our military like a fish. How's that for a start?

All of that. Eff him, his party, John Boehner
, Mitch McConnell and any career politician who has done nothing but kowtow to everyone to make sure we don't hurt anyone's feelings. At what point does the basic tenets of utilitarianism overcome our blind naïveté and gut our "representation" system in order to better things for THE MANY?
IMHO Trumps most alluring asset: he is from outside the beltway.
To 04Venom's point: I am Floridian, he's right. If things don't get voted the controlling party's way, redraw the districts.

We are in full agreement of calm and cool. That was my thought about Carson as well though I am not completely sold on him. I'm not sold on any one at the moment. I can rule a few out though like Jeb Bush, Ran Paul, Chris from Joisey, and Huckabee. But otherwise I am still undecided. Way too early to cast a lot yet IMO, but weeding out is easy enough.

Just curious. Is it "Christianity" you dislike or is it religion in general? Or maybe you simply don't like people catering to any certain group of ANY type? Atheism, Humanism, Eastern Mysticism, Hinduism, Islam, Agnosticism, environmentalism, and Satanism, are all religions as well by definition of the word. Was it not John Lennon who said, "I don't believe in 'isms'?" Yet he was an Agnostic by admission if history serves me correctly, not that I was a bug music fan by any means. I really am simply curious since you like to bring this up time and again in the past. I hope you equally (unlike Lennon) dislike ALL religions and not just the Christians. At least then I could respect you as being unbiased in that regard.

And as some forethought, I don't hate other religions. I don't agree with many of them but I don't hate them either. Nor do I dislike you regardless of your preferences, though we often find ourselves on opposite sides of topics of this nature. You are an interesting guy. Hope to see you soon.

No issues at all with any religion but I do have an issue with people forcing their will on others. I also take issue with people that are constantly "in your face" with their religion and even worse how it's the only right belief.

Since its a slippery slope towards religious oppression only one kind or another I'd prefer government officials keep their religious beliefs to themselves and out of the office.

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. :bigthumb

I really think the extreme effort most of the candidates seem to be making to chase the religious vote is alienating a lot of people. I think it makes Rand Paul look far more like a politician than his father who is a fairly religious man but never seemed to put that before individual liberty and freedom.

I really wish Rand would be Nominated and Elected ... I agree with about 95% of what he is and stands for ...

I think he'd make a Great No Bullshit type President ...
I think him and Trump both have the same things in mind to get this Country back to where it should be, Just Trump is a Lot Louder and a Little More Obnoxious about it !!! LOL

You a funny guy Aaron. :D I respect anyone who can share differing opinions and return that same respect as well. Loved the nun and goat comment. That was a riot.

What I have zero tolerance for is Political Correctness. Hate my views, hate my opinions and vice versa I am fine with that. But the political correctness crap ended with me in the Clinton Years. Had too much of that crap in California. Respecting different views and not being afraid to ask questions for clarification or understanding on any topic goes a long way.

Hope to see everyone soon. If I were choosing today I would choose Trump for P, Carson for VP, and Fiorina for Sec of State. There you have it. Supper is on and I'm hungry. See YA!

Give Kasich credit for one important thing. He is the only candidate of either party that had the courage to say the words "entitlement reform". Predictably, all the other candidates immediately denounced the idea. With the surplus of idiots running for president, he has spoken like an adult. I am not predicting he will be the nominee.

Trump and Carson struck a chord because they didn't act or speak like a politician. Also, with the actual election being a year away many people have tuned out the endless, daily barrage of political gossip. Trump is beginning to fade and the same will happen to Carson; they both have made some outlandish statements that generate controversy and attention, but that won't win nominations or elections. If that was the case, Rick Santorum would have won the nomination in 2012, rather than Mitt Romney.

If I had to guess who the eventual nominee will be right now, it would be Rubio. I would also predict he would lose to Clinton in the general election. Aside from the advantage the Democrats have in the electoral college math, the Republican nominee has to bend so far to the right to win the nomination that it hampers their chances in the general election. Again, Romney was attacked, successfully, for statements he made during the primary campaign.

I see a Clinton win, unless the turnout is significantly less than 2008 and 2012.

Don't kill the messenger.

If you will recall, I damn near picked the exact electoral college total for each candidate in the 2008 election a week before the voting. Everyone here was predicting a win by McCain. I don't let my personal preferences cloud my judgment. Same for 2012.

Here's another prediction, there is probably a 40-50% chance the Republicans will lose the Senate if the Democratic nominee wins. The 2016 election will have a disproportionate number of Republican seats up for re-election, just was the case for the Democrats in 2014. A large turnout in 2016 might tip the Senate to the Democrats. The Republicans will retain a solid majority in the House

That was so well thought out, and articulated, I think I'll concede your points. With that being said, most people didn't vote for Rick Santorum because they actually googled "Santorum." If you've not done that, I'll wait. You're welcome.

Even if I am right, there is no reason to lose hope. Any president is constrained by external events and Congress. I have been following presidential elections since 1960 and I haven't seen a "last chance" election yet. Don't be discouraged.

To my mind, the greatest threat to responsive government is MONEY. Unfortunately, the Republican Party bears considerable blame for opening the floodgates of money. Mitch McConnell backed by the RNC filed suit to remove even the weak limit on campaign contributions. The Supreme Court's decision in the Citizens United was a shocking partisan decision and easily the worst in the last 100 years. Not only did it conflict with prior Supreme Court decisions, it equated unlimited contributions to political campaigns as an exercise in free speech. Total bullshit.

Corporations and labor unions are free to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns and individuals can contribute unlimited sums to PACs and do so anonymously. Billionaires can now fund their personal candidates, as was the case with Newt Gingrich in 2012. If cash is truly free expression under the Supreme Court's decision, the implication is that a billionaire has more "free speech" under the Constitution than you or I do. Seem right to you?
