Trying to make the best of the setup changes for spring. I'm wanting to know if radial or bias ply tires are better for an automatic setup? regardless of setup tire brand choice will be MT and will be a DOT tire. Is sidewall as critical on an auto setup, 17 rim Vs. 15 rim? I have both 17x9.5 and 15x10 wheels.

Tranny is a 6R80 fully stock with a final drive 3.15:1 gear. Power to the ground should be 525-570RWHP/500-525RWT (hopefully). Running a 2.3L TVS twin screw so plenty of torque on the low end. 1 piece aluminum DS, poly bushing UCA/LCA's, stock springs for now, and Lakewood 50/50 rear shocks. I believe the factory stall is around 2800. Will be foot braking off the line.

Sorry to beat up with so much 411 but never run an auto before so trying to make the best of this changeover for 2016. Thanks

Oh, the car is a 2014 Mustang GT premium Automatic with full interior.

Thanks guys.

You set on MT tires?

Id say a 15 inch drag radial would work fine and be easy to drive on. Not great in the rain but way better than the ET Street bias ply.

Ill be picking up a set of Hoosier Quick Time Pro's. 27x11.50 since True Street requires a DOT tire.

15" drag radial would be my choice with that setup. I was impressed with the m/t 275/60/15 pros that I used toward the end of last year. I cut a 1.5 on them with my 600 rwhp pig. I drive them on the street but it's not recommended. I would park it if it even smelled like rain. Too bad they don't make it in 275/50/15 pro. That would be perfect for your setup.

Not set fully on MT Brian but want a true DOT DR. I'd run Hoosiers. After all I am born bred and raised Hoosier. I'll look into those. Thanks

Tommy you're one funny guy. "600RWHP pig". That's a hoot. A 275/50 would be ideal no doubt. Won't be running them on the street except for those True Street events or maybe a Street car shootout IF there are any this year. Will likely run a 275/60 if I go 15x8. I would have to sell some wheels and tires to make room for a pair though. Can't run the pros in the True street class since they are track only tires per MT though they put them in the DOT section. I don't get that. Or is that merely a MT suggestion? Are they stamped DOT? Thanks.

So these? http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreet

Or something more along this line? http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreetRadial

Thanks for the feedback.

On your car, Id choose the ET Street radial over the ET Street bias ply.

Thanks Brian. Appreciate the feedback. Still want to look into that Hoosier DR option as well.

The 275/50 would probably be best for the 3.15 gear and automatic. The 2 inches of difference is a pretty big jump with that high of a gear in my opinion.

PM me a price onthe 60's Bob if you choose the 50's. I'm assuming both are mounted. I'd want 275/60's personally. The 50's would be too short for my setup with the SC. I'd rather go up one inch from a 27 tire which also gives a larger contact patch than to go down. 1st gear in the 6R80 is 4.17:1. With a final of 3.15:1 that's an overall 13.13:1 ratio. That's like running between a 4.33 or 4.56 gear on a T56 magnum (2.97 first) setup. 2-6 on the 6R80 settle out after first. Second is 2.34 and so on.
