Not sure the best section but here goes. I am wanting to start piecing my interior together. I should probably wait until I have the car painted but I want wanting to see what all I have and how well what I have goes together. Looking for input on 2 areas.
1-Sound deadening
2-Painting the inside shell

I currently have all the stock sound deadening removed from the car. I want to lay in some new. I was thinking of a combination homemade lizard skin along with a quality mat material, probably not Dynomat because I believe there are more cost effective alternatives. Weight of the car is not a concern, I want to have the quietest fox around, no rattles. I am talking doors and ever other body panel in the car. I have considered buying the kit from LMR that is molded for around the firewall area but not sure if I can be just as effective and less cost with the mat material. Also what are the thoughts of putting a foam material on the inside surfaces of the interior panels to add additional sound dampening.

Before the sound deadening I want to coat the interior with black something. The car was red and will be some shade of blue eventually with black interior. I figured I could paint the interior, but not sure if rattle can would be ok or I need something better. I will coat a few areas with POR15 and touch up the seams with some new seem sealer. Not sure if many here have done this with a fox as I Know most here are trying to cut as much weight out of them as possible.
I am all about the street car life!

I have researched the google machine a great deal on other forums as well. I have some good research but curious if anyone here as specific experience.
Thanks!

If I ever get around to it, I'm brush painting mine with satin black rust proofing paint. Same stuff I used underneath.

That sounds about like what I was thinking. I was going to do the inside with POR15 but not sure if I have enough to do the underside and the inside. SO I figured a few key areas with POR15 and then the rest with something else. What specific rust proofing product were you thinking? I dont want anything that may have a residual smell after I get the car together.

For sound deadening there used to be a less expensive alternative to dynomat called hushmat. You can get it at crutchfield.com or other places as well.

I can never remember the brand or name, but it's just about as evil as POR15 or even the cheaper stuff you can get at KOI.... which is.. uhh.. RustSeal or something like that... but it comes in a gallon can at Kibler's. I'll see if I can snag a pic. It will stay on your clothes permanently and your hands for days.

I have sen the Hushmat, I have also looked at stuff on the this site http://www.raamaudio.com/package-1-20-sheets-of-raammat-bxt-ii-37-5-sq-ft-and-3-yards-ofensolite-iuo-peel-and-stick-41-625-sq-ft/

This is a combo of two different materials. One of which I have used at a previous job in a different application. One thing I dont have a feel for is how much square footage I am looking at. I have not tried to measure but ID guess I would need somewhere in the neighbor hood of 50 sq ft to cover everything I want.

POR15 is like that, I have used it on a couple small projects to get a feel for it and its some wicked stuff. I cleaned up and coated an old bench vise and did my snow blade edge on my mower. It is some really tough stuff from what I can tell. The Rust seal stuff is not much cheaper if at all than POR15. I think I was told my the guys at Smyth that a guy left POR15 and went out on his own to develop the Rust Seal product.
