Muhammad Ali was the best boxer ever to step into the ring. I remember sitting in my Dad's recliner with my little 5 transistor radio listening to the fight when he, the under dog, beat Sonny Liston. It was just magic watching this man, a really huge man, move around the ring so quick and gracefully.
The only criticism I would ever offer about Ali was that he should have retired before he did. He took some bad beatings late in his fighting career. These beatings possibly led to te physical problems that finally did him in.
When he boasted "I am the Greatest", he wasn't bragging, just stating a fact. R.I.P. Muhammad.

If your going off his record as for being the best I think that title goes to Rocky Marciano

I'll admit he was One of the Greatest Boxers Ever and One Hell of a Showman, But the Draft Deal always bothered me ...

But at least he Faced it and took his licks for it, And didn't Bitch Out and Flee the country ...

I learned something new ..

Seriously ??? You didn't know that ???

Like I said though, He did it the right way IMO instead of Fleeing the Country or even worse like Ted Nugent did and not eat, shave, Bathe, Change clothes and Shit and Piss Himself for weeks before showing up ...
It cost Ali his title and the ability to fight for 3 years ...

If any of you youngsters doubt Ali was the greatest, just watch his famous fight with the unbeatable George Foreman in Zaire, "The Rumble In The Jungle". Just as in his fight with Sonny Liston, Ali was the underdog, but he knocked big George out. I watched the movie "When We Were Kings" which ended up with the famous fight. I've never figured out how a man that big could move like he did. He practically floated around the ring.
