The house is once again filled with toe nails on the kitchen floor, sighs, dog food farts, and loves and licks. We drove to New Albany, Indiana yesterday to meet and greet with a 2-3 old Boxer stray named "LILY". Kentuckianaboxer.com honored us with allowing us to become Lily's new owners. We miss our Shelby and our Bailey and always will. Lily has now come along to fill the void in the home that they left behind. She comes with her own personality and appears to be loving the attention she gets with no competition from other dogs. Sleeping on the couch was not going to happen though we tried. So after trying to sleep with her on the sectional to help her acclimate it became apparent she was not happy with us being separated from my wife. Soooooooooooooooooooo...to the bedroom we went. She jumped up in the bed, curled up at the foot and went to sleep.

Lily was a stray that was found and brought to the pound in Columbus, Indiana. Kentuckianaboxer.com saved her and fostered her until she came to be placed with us yesterday. So we have saved a dog life. Attached are a couple of photos.

Congrats man. Good looking boxer. Always nice to see people rescue animals. That's what we did with our Beagle and cat.

Thanks Aaron! Shelby was our first adoption from a couple here on the site. Lily is our first rescue adoption. She's great. Hard to believe she was a stray.

You're welcome bud! All three of mine are rescues. I wouldn't have it any other way.

She is beautiful! I was going to call you yesterday about a stray that we came across but I wasn't sure if you was ready to get another. We took her to the local Humane Society (no kill shelter) so hopefully she gets a good forever home. She ran around our neighborhood for a couple weeks before she finally let us catch her. She was a boxer mix I believe. Very small little girl.

Thanks for the thought and the comment Brian. She acclimating better to us than we are to her at the moment. Don't know what happened just after we got her here yesterday but I sat down for two seconds to follow up an email with the rescue lady, looked back to her and she was squating in the middle of the living room and left a pile of runs the size of a Holstein Cow. I never saw so much crap come out of a dog. Of course my wife was at the neighbors and I am trying to get her attention to take the dog into the back yard so I can start the cleanup before it soaks through to China. So since that time I have been taking her out like every two hours. She finally pooped in the back yard today for the first time. So we can't tell if she is a once a day pooper or what. Other than that it has been a great transition. I started getting her used to a crate today as well. Started with 30 minutes. Then a few hours later Kim and I went to lunch and crated her for one hour. Tomorrow I will take half a day off and be home so she has only been crated for about 2.5 hours. Tuesday Kim will hopefully be able to leave work an hour early and she will have 3 hours in the crate. 4.5 would be the max she has to be in there. Hopefully she will become trustworthy enough to leave her out as we were able to do with Shelby. But that may be a while. So happy to have a hound in the home again.

This is the one somebody dropped off up the road. We have our 2 in the house and we sure don't have room for a 3rd or we would've kept her. She has been roaming for a week and a half or so. The wife has been taking food and water up to her but we couldn't ever get close till yesterday. I think she had finally had enough of the heat and was about to give up. We asked around if anyone wanted her but no takers. We took her to the Humane Society today. They are a no kill shelter and will find her a good home.

Thanks. I like cats as well. Unfortunately my father is highly allergic to them and I have found out that I have a mild allergy to real long haired cats. Otherwise I would love to have an indoor Siamese or Silver Tabby. Sent you a PM.

She'll be tagged full Boxer as nice as she looks I am guessing. Either way se will be snatched up in no time. Lily has a slightly longer nose than normal but according to the lady who has showed/rescued/occasionally bred Boxers for most of her life they do come in a variety of skull shapes. So the snout may be a little longer or shorter than the norm. We mainly chose to stick with a single breed because you never know what hereditary traits a Boxer may pick up when crossed with others. It may get the docile traits or the more aggressive unpredictable traits. So we tended to stay clear of mix breeds only for that reason. And believe me I saw some mixes that about tore my heart out.

You should of seen it buddy. This is a Boxer not a wiener dog! LOL! And I have no idea where she had all of that stored, but it was 18 hours before she finally pooped again after that.
