Project RoadCone and update...

Well it’s been a bit, but I thought I would give the forum an update. Last November I ran a 9.61@156 with a manual transmission and got asked not to come back. So I started preparing for this year. Cortex Racing in Cincinnati Ohio took on the task of doing a 10pt. legal cage. The process was very involved to get the Ultimate tight fit. We added a parachute and addressed all the safety needs of Evil. I have shared some of the pictures in this thread.

As for any good build, I believed it is time to add power since I added some weight. I contacted @Whipple SC. Dustin and I decided it would make some big power with Whipple’s new Gen 5.... Cobra Jet setup with the bigger intercooler bricks and alternator relocation kit to lose 40-45 inches of blowe belt. I’m super excited as our first goal will be to take the S550 manual transmission record ... on our way to the Ultimate Goal of an 8 second slip.

Steeda has also assisted in addressing suspension needs and Cortex/JRi coilovers will be assuring to get the new power to the ground while hopefully taming the chassis.

I didn't know the video of this pass existed until he contacted me today on 6G. It isn't a clean pass at all, but this just shows the potential of the car on a good pass. You can actually see it pull the wheels hitting second gear!!

Terry has 5-6 mph on everyone else on the list and he's about to add at least another 100-150 hp. He will decimate that list this year. I guarantee it.

The “Panda” who I know only has one power added and has converted it to auto as 2-tone stated. Those two have been quicker, but none faster..... 156mph says it all. That’s on a soft launch and a couple of times out with that combo.

You keep bringing up this stock MT-82, I don’t qualify for that as I have a Tremec. I believe that’s the reason for his 136mph and not going to 5th.

Yeah I do. That car has not been running or made a pass in several years. Additionally that record was set with a different engine management setup. That's why that car has an 11-14 cam setup. It was not running s550 ecm. So that was not a s550 record imo.

Thank you! We are currently upgrading the suspension to handle the lower level of the car. Also after a few test hits, if all goes well it’s time for the two step and Send it!

Tommy, Thanks for the vote of confidence! It was a CrAzY year and a lot of changes. Went over a second faster than last year and gained 8mph over the 156. We are already making plans for this next year and a couple of big changes to get RoadCone even faster....

It’s been a long time for an update to this thread, but it’s time. The Whipple took me to 7.9’s @180mph. I know it had more, but had an opportunity to do something completely different with RoadCone.

I have never owned a turbo car…. But I soon will!! I’m switching to twin Precision Turbos, 72/75 with billet wheels and ceramic bearings and T4 flanges. In preparation for this we have actually downsized a few cubic inches for thicker sleeves. We are going with TBX Extreme Race Turbo cams, RPG secondary chains. Almost forgot the billet Frankenstein intake!! The transmission is being upgraded with internal and external dump valves. The new torque converter will be a Protoque bolt-together. That’s just some highlights of the build. This is all in hopes to build 1800-2000 hp!! Looking to improve to at least a mid-7 second car. Wish I could post picture, but soon on RoadCone Racing I will. This is the first group that I have disclosed any plans too.

Nice stuff Terry. The intake looks to have been 3D printed given the lines in it. Possibly? We have been printing (technical term is growing not printing) parts at work on a 3D metal printer for some time now.

BTW If you're feeling kind and the Whipple kit is free to a good home, I am willing to give it one. LOL!

The intake is made by Frankenstein. It is CNC’d from a block of aluminum. Unfortunately the Whipple is already gone to a new home. They took exhaust, cams and few other things from my build.
