As you all know, I picked up a 92 Coupe off of a buddy of mine that is also on here slow86fiveoh (Marcus). It was on here for sale a couple times I think. Charlie Taylor had it, then Jason Crabtree. Its a pretty clean little car.

As for the car. It has a stock 5.0 that has been freshened up. Stock down to the clutch fan and throttle body. It has an On3 kit with a 70mm turbo set at around 6 pounds right now, 39lb injectors, PiMP XS system and a 255 pump. Transmission is a PA C4 with a PTC converter. Converter is a little on the tight side so it may get pulled and sent back for a re stall. 8.8 has a 3.27 gear. UPR uppers and lowers, and Mac exhaust.

Already swapped the front suspension. Added the Team Z K member and A arms, Strange struts with 14-150 springs and manual steering rack.

Took it to Edgewater a few weeks back. Made 2 passes, both not making any boost till just at the 60' marker. Went a 12.67 @ 107. Plenty of room for improvement.

I have a ported truck lower I got from Greg (Kwik92GT) to go along with the Systemax upper and a 70mm throttle body. A set of Holley heads also came with it.

I have the 5 lug front spindles and rotors that I salvaged off of the 94 that I picked up from Chad393na that I may use to swap it over to 5 lug so I can run the 17" Alumastars on the front.

Plans are to crank up the boost and see how it does. Id like to throw a set of Trick Flow 11r heads on it as those will allow me to grow into them later on. Not sure how they work with the stock bottom end though.

REALLY like this car as you already know. I think if I was you I'd go ahead and put the Holley heads on it along with the ported lower/Systemax upper, maybe toss a TF Stage 1 cam in there if you have the means/time etc., and then tune it and see how the converter acts after the upgrades, I'm betting with the extra power it'll loosen to where it works much better. Turning the boost up as the car sits now may do the same thing as well in regards to the converter. Just my .02. :dunno:

Thanks Craig! I need to down size some and that may be happening soon. I currently have 5 of them in the garage. Way to many to keep up with!

That's what I should do! I keep trying to tell myself that! The parts are just laying there. I can only hope that it free's up the converter some. It should run pretty good at that point.

Nice looking project Brian. Text me when you are heading down again.

Ill do that Chad. I picked the worst day to go and I didn't figure anyone else would show up. Spurt of the moment thing and it rained as soon as I pulled in. Go figure!

That one is still in the boys 86. Had it set up to go in the old Model A truck I was doing, sold the Model A and kept it. My boy wanted it so he got it. Hasn't been drove yet. Start up and idle is all its seen.

I'd trade a forged piston shortblock for it, just to get the original engine back in that GT

Ok, Ill get back on this...

Didn't do much to the car this past year. Pretty much just drove it around and enjoyed it. I went to the track a few times as it sat. Best pass was a 12.67@ 107. Still bone stock on 6lbs.

Went down to Williamsburg for the Airport race and had a blast down there. Hopefully they can get the township to let the continue it this year. They fought it to the end with no good outcome...

Mike did a great job working on it. Fighting through issues with the boost controller and the wastegate. Still managed to pick up around 75 hp and a bunch of torque. Once I get the new wastegate and controller on it, Ill be taking it back to see what we can do... Unless I get the Marti report back and the numbers are lower than what I original thought. Just the cheap report shows its 1 of 328. Ill be getting the deluxe report here soon.

Its a nice little coupe. Dart SHP 363 with a 5 speed. Still full weight with air and power steering and full interior. It runs pretty good. I went 10.24@133 I think in it. I know Shannon has been 9.80's or .90's in it. I didn't make but 4 passes in it last year.

Ill have this one running soon and back to getting some tuning done. Still just a stock block motor so it will be limited some.

Still up in the air on how I want to go with this one. Its a fairly low number car so I don't want it to spiral out of control.

Im all for swapping over to E85!! Hard to beat it.

My original plans was a 8.2 Dart motor with an 80mm and th400. I just don't know if I want to do it to the red car just yet. Thought about swapping the black car over but its so fun to drive.

Ordered my block plate and turbo drain lines and fittings. Going from the clamped on hose to some braided 10an line. Once they show up, I can get the flywheel on and get the turbo mounted before it goes back in. Gotta love the On3 kit. Its a pain in the ass to do when its in.

Still need to order injectors and fuel pump yet.

Waiting on the Marti statistics report to come too.

exrider416
04-08-2020, 01:49 PM
Car looks good and should run well also. What pump setup are you planning to go with? I think I’m going to redo my cold side on my on3 kit, can’t stand the miter cut on the pipe going to the throttle body.

$1.15! I just paid $2.79 a gallon for e85 and it was actually 67% according to my ethanol sensor

draggin50
04-08-2020, 09:11 PM
It was 2.39 the last time I saw it which was 2 weeks ago. I always have to drive to get it anyways. Closest place is 25 miles or so from me.

67% sucks!!! I don't think I have ever got un 78% and that was 2 winters ago. Usually its right around 85-88%.

I think Im going with a 340 pump. I don't think Ill take this one over 550 or so anyways. Still be pretty fun for this year I guess. Im not sure why they did that angled cold side pipe... It would be so much nicer with just a bend there. Its a cheap kit and works well for the price but it sure shows. I think next winter, Ill make a huge step up and go with the Stainless Works, CG Fab, or something more along those lines. Even the Valley Speed headers seem to be decent for the money.

Anything over about 50 will get you most of the benefits of E that you'd be looking for in anything but a combo on the absolute edge with it's tune. If you don't mind doing a little extra work you might want to put like a Walbro 450, 485, or 525 (Hellcat) in there. They are all E85 compatible and will give you a ton more ceiling for fueling.

Anything can be returned to stock as long as its not been cut on.

I was about to start cutting! I already have a mini tub kit, and a narrowed 8.8 is on the way. That changes things.

If you don't wan to do tubs now I don't think you'll lose anything at the track with today's tires. Look at the times these guys are running on 275s.

Very true. These tires are a game changer now a days. I just like they look of them. Even with Craigs just having a narrowed rear end and stock tubs looks real good.

Still slowly picking up parts for this one.

Picked up a JW Ultra bell for the C4.

Also picked up a set of 60lb injectors from Evolved.

Getting closer. Still haven't decided which route I am going to go.

Selling the black car gave me a little motivation to get this one back up and running.

Installed the Ultra bell and put the old PTC converter back in. I'll try it out with the new motor and see how it does. If its still too tight, Ill get it back out and to them to loosen up.

New motor is in, headers and turbo are on. Just need to get it bolted up and wired.

That's what Im thinking!

It was tight behind the stock motor with 6lbs. This one is a 10:1 motor with AFR heads and Anderson N412 cam and a Systemax intake. And Id like to be around 12lbs. We'll see if it changes or not.

Nice to see you are going to get this one back out. I'm betting the converter loosens a decent bit going to a "built" engine at 12lbs vs the stocker at 6. Can't wait to see it at the track.

What is everyone doing to wire up fans? Any controller out there that is better than another or just relays?

The 255/60 does look a little small in there. The draglites were 15x10 with 6.5" bs. The Bogarts are 15x10 with 6 3/8" bs. Not sure how much that 1/8" will change things.

That's part of my issue. I am keeping the stock lines and rails for now. I may switch it up later.

Rick93coupe
09-13-2020, 12:57 PM
Greg can tell you which pumps he's running but one is larger than the other. The big pump put out so much volume, that with a -6 return line, we couldn't open the regulator enough to get it down to factory pressure.

Just went to his thread and looked. The 525 pump is way too much pump for the factory lines, the 450 may or may not work but I'd be suspect

If it's a stock tank setup, I'd be looking at an aeromotive 340. I'm using two of em myself.

NXcoupe
09-13-2020, 02:52 PM
I ASSumed you were going with aftermarket lines since this setup comes with a billet aluminum hat that accepts an fittings. A 340 lph pump would be plenty for th hp on E85. Dave's turbo car used one and we never ran out of fuel pressure.

Finally touched this one again over the last couple days. Radiator is set in place and Im working on wiring the fans. Just picked up a Derale double relay set up for the Contour fans. Curious as to what others have wired them into for the trigger wire. I hate wiring!!!

I have contour fans on my car and I ended up using a Derale PWM Fan Controller. So far it has worked well.
They claim that it won't support the current draw of the contour fans, but I'm pretty sure that's a "playing it safe" claim. I ended up ditching the 50A circuit breaker that was supplied with the controller, and installed a big in line fuse link. (60 or 80 amps I think..).
Have had zero issues with the setup thus far.
Granted, it's definitely not a daily driver.. So I cannot attest to long term durability. But as far as the operation of the cooling fans is concerned, it is fantastic. Once I dialed everything in, the fans just work. I never think about them. It's nice. [emoji106]

Still working on the fan wiring. Of course waited on 10 gauge fuse holders for a week.

Well been back on this one too. Decided that I wanted to keep the stock hood so I removed the intake spacer so I could get the hood to shut. Finished up the tranny cooler, radiator, and fans. Got it cleaned up from setting the last couple years and pulled it out for some pictures!

Thanks! Those are some little 255/60's. Didn't want to beat to make a 275 fit.

I was really hating putting a cowl hood on this car. I love the stock flat hood! Sucks its heavy as hell but who cares!

NO kidding! They look like fricking 315's under there. The tires on the rear of my 14 are 305's and I thought they look narrow compared to those on yours.

That would be the only option for it right now. I love the stock flat hood. Heavy but beats having another one painted I guess. And Ive always been a huge fan of the HO Fibertrends hoods but for some reason, the quality has went down over the last year or so. The last 2 hoods I picked up really needed a lot more work than any of the others.

Yeah, I really like it. Don't see many around any more still sporting the stocker!

Do you know if Dave is still kicking? I heard he was really ill a few years ago, they didn't say if it was something serious. Wondering if that's why the quality is suffering.

He was still around last year I know. I met him there and picked up a few hoods. He was real sick I was told but I didn't ask what was up. Last 2 times I went, it was Jim so Im not sure. And Jim screwed up his arm a while back so Im sure that didn't help things out any.
