View Full Version : Anyone into Indy cars?

This was a garage find that I picked up a couple of weeks ago, never really cared much for Indy cars until I came across this, it's been a neat experience looking into it's origin's. 1986 March 86A chassis built with a 425hp Buick 3.5l N/A engine, did very well into it's conception purposely built for the American Racing Series new to the USA that year.

I believe George Montgomery built those V6s for an indy car series. That could be one of them. You can call and ask him about it. He still has some stuff there from that time.

Should have dropped my name. He and I have been friends for 15 years or more now. Gregg and I are the same age. I've got tons of signed memorabilia from him. He likes telling my daughter he remembers when she was in a carrier. I need to go see him Saturday and take Iz with me. Glad you met him. He's an Icon. First rate human being.

If I remember right, talking to Greg one day down at Georges. I think he said those indy light engines were de-tuned to 500hp!

That would be fun as hell to drive around on the streets! Im sure it would be rough getting a title for one and making it legal though. I didn't know they was that expensive to get.

Me neither, but it's not something you can just pull up to the local car lot and grab. Indy car racing is a big dollar sport as well as a highly engineered sport, much greater expense compared to our drag racing come to find out. It has been a neat experience to find out more about the sport and the industry, but this is a little out of my league.
