Looking good Matt :bigthumb
Looks like Wednesday nights a go for me so let me know.
Keep at it Matt.
Im finally getting the hang of it!
Big thanks to Kris for spending time with me on this thing. I was getting frustrated quickly with it. Hell, I wanted to buzz all the bondo down with a DA and prime it. :D
Kris taught me to be patient with it and wrap a paint stick with some paper and work it
down slowly. It takes a lot of time and patience but thats the only way to get a really straight panel. I also have learned to look with your hands not your eyes. Plated taught me a lot about this too. Use your hands to feel the highs and lows...dont trust your eyes to see every thing. ;)
I hope everyone remembers this is my first time at all this auto body crap and I am learning EVERYTHING as I go. I have a strong will to learn a new trade...more like form of art, and I want to do it right. Im lucky to have great resources in the form of good friends who are willing enough to teach me...and have the patience for it. :D
Hopefully when were finished with it, it will be something to stand back and be proud of.
Im sorry, I'll have more pics up soon. Im just reluctant to keep snapping them because it all looks the same. Bondo is bondo, right guys.
Id like to get a tripod and take some video of the many steps in this process. Im sure there are some people who follow this thread and think about trying it too. Maybe short video clips would show more detailed instructions. I know I learn better that way, tell me how to do something new and maybe I will get it right. Show me how to do it and I have a better idea how to do it. Something to think about. Let me know if your interested in seeing some video in this thread!
Yeah I would love to see video of you PAINTING it:cool1:
Matt, its a great feeling when you open the garage for the first time after you laid down the clear. It makes you feel like you really accomplished something.
I'm sure you will be proud of it Matt, how can you not be with all the time and energy you are putting into it! That's how I feel when I look at Twisted Twins, proud of Vinny, because I know he was proud of himself (in January) for FINALLY getting it done (well, almost). Vinny would have been right there with you helping you every step of the way, he really wanted you to race again someday Matt, he thought you were getting out of the mustang scene though (and into the truck scene!).
I found a couple of discs with pictures of TT in different stages that I didn't know Vinny had. These are pics nobody has seen, apparently he was keeping track of everything by himself and taking pictures of everything by himself and putting the pics on this disc. I have a lot of pictures printed out (the ones I knew about) because I was in the process of making a photo album for him when he passed away, I even printed out a big sign for the front of the album that said "Twisted Twins, Coming Summer 2007! - in orange). I was going to give it to him for his 38th birthday. :( I'll probably go ahead and still make it, especially since I found all these other pictures he had.
I need to get over and see your progress, and I have some pictures for you too. ;)
Good job Matt!
I got to see it last week, and Matt it is really looking sweet. It has gotten me thinking about painting my renegade car. It's so much easier just to drop stuff off at Plated's but I do like doing paint and body. I want to get down and help you out. it is looking so good!
I found this pic and thought it was cute...
