Thanks,Chad and I both duked it out until the very end. Both our cars have too much gear( which we will both resolve over the winter) and we were hitting the rev limiter very early. Mine hit the limiter around 1k', I think Chads was about the same. next year should see signifacant improvements for both.
well i ran my best motor pass on sat of 10.18 at 131 and 93 coupe mad his first pass i a few years first hit off the trailer 10.24 at 131 on motor not bad at getting the rust off !(and some one was spining some tires off around in front of the shop and down the street in some twin turbo cheve.... we will save that story for latter ..... )
First of all Paul, It aint cool to throw someone into your level I do go to events and I do wrench on and help alot of members of the DD/stangbangerz
AND YES MY CAR IS BROKE but you dont see me biching to get my post count up it is what it is!!!!! but I think partisipating in person goes a long way
not just the number of posts I pit up. So just fix your car and come out next year and let it talk for you, Becuse I know Scott's will!!!!!! and So will mine.
If you beat a car on the street that is a member on the DD does that mean you can take it's place on the list???? J/k LOL....:D
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM this could get good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL.... Nah
ah were just messing with ya Chad..I'm sure if it turned out the other way that i'd be hearing all kinds of stuff too...Hell mark busted out laughing at us when we said we'd race ya...noone wants to make anyone mad or get bent out of shape...it's all in fun..Thanks for the race..it's hard to find a good one anymore
This isn't what you think Vinny. I met Chad in Germantown about 8yrs ago and we were supposed to race. We went to go do so and we got separated so chad snapped off a buddie of mine instead. We have never raced on the street ever!! I don't think we've raced at the track ever either.
We had a very close race that probably would have just been dropped at that but we couldn't just have our underdog victory. I was accused of running a short 1/4. It was little short but it was do to some craziness. I think he lifted he thinks I lifted. All in all it was fun. And you know win or lose we have jokes.
:bigthumb
LOL....What are you doing Vinny??? Your being no fun..LOL...
Well since the DD is done go ahead and put me at the top of the new list DD 07
Now who's being funny?
Just like it says in the opening post....."Don't sing it, just bring it."
And on that note.....here's a question to ponder over the winter.....
"What's the DD '07 list gonna look like?"
My guess, I'd say the first 6 spots will be nines or under.
Meeting Notes from 12/9
And as far as the meeting went, a few things were tossed around, nothing drastic. It seems like the "active member" issue is going to more or less be a judgement call although I still think some "guidelines" or some sort of breakdown should be in place so we have something to go back on. I'm not meaning 500 posts before you can place on the list. I'd rather see people hanging out at our events because to me that is being more active than sitting at a computer. Schedules can be crazy at times tho and I understand that so perhaps a minimum post count or post count per year would come in handy. All this is for is to keep it local and keep it for OUR MEMBERS. Anybody can register on a website, post a number and be gone. That's not what we're looking for. If people are going to participate in the "Dirty Dozen" they should participate in SBZ, be it events or gatherings or just posting. Once again, an issue has been brought up that shouldn't really need defined but to keep it fair, we'll define it. Definitely. :)
The rules for next year are probably not going to change. We don't want a bunch of rules to cloud up the intent of this list. The things I do expect to change (as mentioned by 91lxnos, the former 88lxnos) is we may expand the 12 to 24. The top 12 will be our DD but the next 12 will be like a big "reserve" list in case somebody breaks. Those people are going to be the ones that have a say in how the list evolves. "If you can't run fast enough to make the list, you don't need to worry about what the rules are" seemed to be the general concensus.
Street tires vs slicks - don't care. Put DOT's on to drive it on the street and slicks and skinnies on at the track. If you got 'em, use. If you don't have any, don't cry about it.
trailering cars - don't care. If I'm going to drive an hour to get to the track, you bet your ass I want my trailer there if something does break. The car should still be seen on the street. If nobody ever sees the car on the street, it shows up to the track everytime on the trailer, then it's probably not a street car. It doesn't have to be a daily driver. It doesn't have to have A/C and cruise control. It does need to have tags and insurance and be seen on the street tho. (preferably at some SBZ gatherings :D )
Ehhh, that's pretty much that.
Let me ask you all this......
If the "Dirty Dozen" is just for fun and sticker at the end of it all, why has it attracted so much attention? Why has it been debated so much? Why do some people look to making the dozen as a goal? Why did two other websites copy us?
I'm not sure myself but it's friggen cool ain't it!!!!
face it, I'm your hero and you want to be me. :tongue2:
 J/K buddy.
LOL...
The only truth that hurts is the fact you will never have a shot of bieng on the list!!!When I had my last web site which "Vinny was a member of" I had vbulliten and stanbangerz was a free site. Did you know that?? After I shut mine down Vinny bought a good site with vbulliten. So did he copy me?? Me and Vinny talked about our list before it ever happened
"Look Bitch", I'm really diggin the new rules/outlook for the dozen. Espescially the part about only the top 24 have any valued input. Good job Vinny
1) Recent times ONLY! Not something you ran last year or before.
2) Car must be in current running condition. You break, you're off the list until you're back running, and then you have to back up your previous best.
3) Should have current registration/tags/insurance.
4) Must be a Ford Mustang (or Mercury Capri)
5) Current owner of car must make the pass with indicated time.
6) Must be a current active member of StangBangerz.com.
7) Must attend at least one of the Cruise ins, at least one of the Dozen Shoot outs and possibly another Running of the Ponys.
Thats MY opinion:)
That is just the wording. I was asked to see my Registration and Proof of Insurance this year. They also looked at my Vin Number to make sure it was the same on the registration. I am sure other people were asked to show their Insurance and Registration.
Who made you do that???
Vinny did. I dont think he was picking on me. I think he wanted the whole thing to be fair. Before that point I could have just taken the tag off my Daily driver and put it on the car. It is all for fun but people are going to cry. If I didnt drive my car to the cruise in this year or last year I wouldnt have put my numbers up.
I have an Idea for a Dirty Dozen style shootout that I might try to organize for next year. I am still trying to think about some details.
I am sure I will need some help. I was thinking along the lines of maybe The Dirty Dozen Rules with a Cruise to the track. Then Figure out a way to have people put up or shut up.
We discussed leaveing things simple. No cruises and such, but maybe meet up for a couple times for race days at some of the area tracks. From what was discussed its not really been a factor wether or not these are street cars. The biggest issue is trying to get people invloved in events and show there faces. Participation seemed to be the big topic and there were some good pionts made. We just need to keep things simple. I hope Vinny got some good ideas from Sat.
I did get some good info from the fellas! Thanks to the cool cats that made it out, it was a good excuse to get together if nothing else. :bigthumb
I agree, I don't think street creds is an issue. And as far as the meet/cruise/track idea....uhhhh...didn't I say the same thing when we were deciding on the DD Shootout? Guys from Dayton didn't want to drive all the way down and back. Then there was the whole trailer issue. I finally said fugget, just show up and have fun and that's pretty much what happened. I would LOVE to see the dozen cruise into the track together tho. Even if it meant dropping the trailer at a remote location. ;)
What if.....................very crazy idea coming.................................hold on.......................wait for it.................almost there............................
What if people who wanted to make the dozen flipped out $50 at the beginning of the year.
That money went to a third party (read: bank)
End of the year, the top twelve split the money with the higher percentage going toward the top of the list.
Who am I kidding? That's a recipe for disaster right there. You all go to Mr Speed Shop Speed Parts Seller guy, spend LOADS of cash, he knows what you're building and builds something faster. The End.
Timido, I'm in dude. Just let me know. :)
There are a couple that I cant keep up with, nor do I want to. Id gladly give up the #1 spot to one of my customers. That means Im doing my job and they are building something fast, very fast. Theres nothing wrong with setting the bar high and still leaving alot in reserve.
Cincy Speed will throw in a $100 gift card to the winner. Im sure MD will throw in something also. Hell, get Pauls to come off something for once and Dayton 5-O, Im sure he could donate something as well.
This could get big in a hurry, but Im sure there will be people bitching and whinning trying to ruin a good thing. To them I say, Have a nice day on another board:HYF:
Let the debate continue:popcorn:

im in just let me know what i can do !!!
Just a brainfart here, but thinking of something vinny said way back when about getting more of the little guys into the fray. Whats everyone think about a rule stating that last years top 12 not be on the next years list?
One thing that will push peoples interest away is seeing the same names year after year.It would be much easier than having a second list for those who were so close but didnt make it.
good idea Kev. Kinda like a bracket for the high runners and a low bracket for the rest. Mabey determind what the lowest ET average is and set that as the lower bracket high. That way even if you go over you would fall into the higher bracket.
Let me get this straight, you want a rule that disqualifies the true 12 fastest street mustangs that earned their spot on the list,so that the next 12 cars(who didn't earn anything)can be on a list. Basically, since you cant compete, you want to change the rules to disqualify those who can. People want to see the best, this is why womens sports will never bee as popular as mens sports. Men compete at a higher level, they are the fastest, strongest and most competitive. So if there was a list that everyone knew didnt have the truly fastest of the sport,no one would care, because it's not real.
