thanks for the kind words bro.
I'll post some pics of the cut up engine compartment this weekend.
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
little by little were getting stuff done.
My ADD is kicking in real bad on this project and I cant concentrate on stuff well. Its just that there is sooo much to do that its too easy for me to get off track. I'll start working on a door, walk away after 2 min. and pick up a grinder and start grinding on the engine compartment, stop that after a minute and start looking at a rust spot then go get a beer then have a smoke then answer my phone....and next thing I know I havent acomplished dick!
I stood back and had a hell of an idea the other day. I needed a system, step by step....baby steps Bob. lol. OK, I need to start at the FRONT of the car. start sanding on the core support till I get it the way I want. Move to the engine comp. and weld holes up, add metal, sand, body filler, sand, glaze, sand till I get it the way I want, move to the firewall and get it titties. Then on to the inside. Prep, primer and paint the cage. That way I can wrap it up in masking paper and it is safe and sound till were finished. Only then can I start sanding and adding body filler to my exterior panels.
OK, I have my system down. Time to pop some ritalin and get busy. hey whats that over there, cool...truck parts, hey I bet that would work on...shit!
enough....here some pics for you bitches.
Heres Kevin Schaber with his gas mask on after ariving with a Crave Case of Double Jalapenio Sliders. nice. :bigthumb

And here is the damn rust we found hiding inside the driver side frame rail. Right where the K-member mounts up was full of dirt and causing rust. Im gonna get everything out that I can and hit it with some POR 15 and put a nice chunk of heavy gauge steel over the hole.

thats it so far kids. I hope to have the engine compartment welded up and grinded smooth this weekend. more pics soon. k thanks bye!:flipoff:
Hit that rust with POR15 and weld em up! It's gonna be great when you get finished!
"hey whats that over there, cool...truck parts, hey I bet that would work on...shit!"
Get away from those truck parts, they may be mine! Guess we're sharing the garage this tonite & tomorrow. I'll probably stay away and let the guys do their thing. I knew there was a good reason I bought a deisel!
looking good :bigthumb
Keep it up, before you know it, it will be mid summer!!:bigthumb
Looks good man, and POR-15 is awesome stuff!
ADD huh. That must be my problem too. Start working on one thing, stop to get a tool and on the way back, look at something totally different and work on it for a bit (until I notice something else I started and never finished).
Keep up the good work Matt! :bigthumb
It's gonna look real nice.:cool1:
I don't know much about body work, but I am gonna be in the gayrage tonight sanding my fingers to the bone. After the demolition, so to speak is completed, I'm just gonna be a tool bitch:D
HEY! Rust, framerail @ shocktower, looks familar!!!!
Good luck at solving the problem.
B
 Wanna know why he got distracted?? Because I was at work while he was working on his car last week. Otherwise I crack the whip and get him movin:cool1:
i dont help much either....."lets go here and get hammered dude"....LOL
:drunk: :agree:
Irene's? Tomorrow night?:bigthumb
:pump: :drunk: :chug:  :yup:
Big Pimpin MJ! Thats gonna be sweet!!!!
LOL! I wasn't saying he's whipped, simply I help control the ADD...at least a little bit.
Im starting to get frustrated.
seems like Im not getting anything done. I have been busting my ass on it everyday, and Schaber has been right there with me. Its like theres not enough hours in the day. We started sand blasting the rust out of the inside of the driverside fraim rail and I got some "Chassis Saver" stuff from the paint store. Its suposed to be the same as the POR 15 stuff.
Now I find myself needing steel and I dont know where to go. I need some 1/2" inside diameter metal tubing for the K member bolts to run through on the inside of the fraim rail. I need some 4" wide 1/8" thick or so plate to cover the gaping hole I made in the side of my frame rail, and I need a big sheet of thin steel to make my panels to cover the giant holes I made in the inner fender in front of the strut towers.:(
where can I find some scrap steel or new stuff to buy?
I also need to go get my Argon tank filled tomorrow. damn.
this damn thing is starting to nickle and dime me to death. It seems like Im spending more time running around getting parts and supplies than working on the car. This bites. Im starting to doubt myself here. Im about ready to walk away from it for a while.
Sounds like this post is turning into a rant... lol. I know what you mean, but it will come together. Rob had to cut out and replace his whole frame rail. You could give him a call and see if he had anything left. Good luck, it will be worth it.
Hey Matt my brother was able to get you some body filler. I don't know if you already had some but now you have more if you want it. I did not even look to see what kind it was but it was a gallon jug and he said it was their best stuff. BTW he works at Evercoat so it is good stuff. Only kicker is the whole label is in spanish.:D BTW if you find a place for scrap steel let me know. I could use an approx 4ft by 4ft piece to do my trunk, approx 16gauge should do the trick. Just let me know if you still need the filler.
There is a yard that takes scrap and sells steel up in lockland not to far from cincy speed. I don't remember the name, but they have all kinds of stuff. You could always ask the guys that did your cage/chassis work to sell you a few scraps.
Hey Matt, I have some steel for you, give me a list of all that you need.
Sick color!
Ypo Goober i have all kinds of steel too, But you have to pick it up.
Tig needed for frame rail?
Jen got that sanding done yet??:bigthumb
waiting on metal stock. I gotta finish the framerails and firewall before I can squirt some paint. ;)
No, sanding isn't done yet. We need to get crackin on that beast. Since its getting warm out, it won't be as miserable sitting in the garage all friggin night.
