Toot away Kenny!!! That is gorgeous!!
That's a badass color.
can plastic be powdercoated?
was thinking of getting the valve covers done while we're doing the valve springs
this is what they look like
http://image.automotive.com/f/tech/1...otor-5-v8+.jpg
was thinking one color for the black part, and maybe a different color for the powered by ford
No plastic can't be done
What Kenny said. You're going to have to degrease the crap out of it, then hit it with some Krylon for plastics.
I used some on my 2.3L engine cover a few years back. It looks like crap now since I drive it more than wash it, but it looked good. I hit it with primer, 3-4 coats of color, then two coats of clear.
CarDomain appears to be down or I would link to an image.
Back from vaca and back to work. Some weld wheels in black chrome 2. Everyone always ask about this color but it can only be done over very polished aluminum or chrome. Also an intake in silver stardust/mirror clear.

Can you powder coat over chrome rims that are starting to Peel and bubble? They are just my winter wheels thought the black chrome would look good on the black car. Thought. It might seal them...
I could but they will continue to bubble and peel. Once that stuff starts there is no stopping it.
Kenny, What would you charge to do the timing cover on my 4.6 DOHC. Im thinking chrome or something close to that? Thanks.
Couple from today. I turbo housing in carbide black. A 55 chevy grill in tuscan matte black. I did almost every trim part on the car but was too lazy to lay it all out for a pic. Then we have a couple radiators from some dragsters. First is chrome/mirror clear and then dormant red/mirror clear.

We then have a Subi turbo housing in satin black ceramic and intake in wrinkle red. Next is a vic jr intake/elbow and v/c's for a 5.0 stang in mirror silver sparkle/clear and mirror red. Last but not least some parts for a 70 Cuda, v/c's in wrinkle black, misc parts/fan in satin black and the intake is new and just has a clear over the bare aluminum.

very nice!!!!!!
Couple different colors. First is shocker yellow over silver vein. I did it on a tube frame my brother built from scratch for one of his r/c trucks. He does damn amazing work. Next is a color called black chrome 2 but apparently it has been changed as it more of a trans black than the bluish/gray tint it use to be

Well I guess black is still where its at as that seems to be all I have done lately. In tuscan matte black we have some audi and some nissan titan wheels. In satin black we have some old mustang 10 holes and a bunch of misc pontiac parts. Finally something not black an edelbrock intake in chrome/acrylic clear.

How long does that powder coating last under normal circumstances?
What do you consider "normal circumstances"?
It is more durable than most paint. Valve covers, intakes, etc you probably won't have to re-coat, ever. Sub frame connectors, etc which get hit by road debris may need a re-application in a few years. My rear sway bar is powder coated, the coating around the sharp edges have worn thin and the bar has started to rust. The rest of the bar could use a wash and wax and it would look brand new; 5 years, 100k miles on it. :bigthumb
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating
Yep what he said:bigthumb Very durable and much more than liquid paint.
It holds up to MAPP gas pretty damn well too.
hey powdercoating guy:lol:, what would you get for a set of ford racing valve covers? these are the ones with the bare metal "fins" which wouldn't get coated. thanks!
You mean like these here? It would be approx $75 to do a set, let me know if I can help

yep, the bottom ones are them i believe. where in independence are you? i'm going to be down on toebben in my big truck tomorrow around 9-10 am... maybe meet? let me know, 513-390-3614... thanks, john
x2 on the nissan parts. also can't wait to see some wrinkle red valve covers
[QUOTE=mustangboy;679280]Here is the chrome intake and then a part in mirror blue/clear

Much of that stuff is going to look bad AZZ on my 69 firebird. Thanks Kenny!
How much to powder coat a rollcage?
My oven is only 6'x4'x'4 and unless you are doing a complete bolt together cage it won't work
Hey John here are your covers, hope you like. Also some magna fuel pressure regs in mirror black/mirror silver sparkle with clear.

wow. those are awesome. i'll be down tomorrow after work at the latest.
It would be possible if my oven was big enough and you cut the roof off your car and then could install the entire roll cage at once. Small bolt together cages are doable or swing out door bars. Problem with cages is I can't coat it then weld it up it need completely welded then coated.
For the LSX guys here is an intake in carbide black and valley pan/front covers and fuel rails in auto charcoal metallic.
