kenny after looking at this entire thread, i know i will be coming your way ... all of the work looks great ~ you're really onto something :bigthumb
Kenny, do they make a copper paint that has the appearance of polished copper or shiny like chrome?
Could this be natural or would it have to be polished? Similar to what you've told us about the black chrome.
Thanks dude, I hope I'm on to something. I really enjoy doing it so I hope it works out.Quote:

Is there any type of powdercoat that will hold up to higher temps on like some longtube headers?
Funny you should ask that. I just did my exhaust pipes in high temp flat black. It is suppose to be good to 1200deg. Not sure how well it will stand the test of time but we will see. Ceramic is the best way to go for high heat applications however it is expensive. I should also have the right size tip for my spray gun to do ceramic by the end of the week. However I don't really want to get into doing long tubes till I get my big oven. Right now I can get a set in my small oven but I'm afraid I will compromise the finish trying to actually get them in there and hung. If you wanna try the high temp powder I would be willing to work with you on a good deal.
Here are my pipes

I got a set of longtubes coming...im sure Im gonna have to mod them some. Not sure what all ill have to do.I didnt know what was out there really.I had a set of longtubes that was jet hot ceramic coated. That stuff sucked ass.It flaked right off.
ken i have a set of long tubes that were done in the flat black..they are about 5 years old now.. they still look the same as the day they were done.
I would do mine as test but they aren't coming out till they absolutely have to come out. I have Jeff's longtubes here sitting on the floor maybe I'll try is his in high temp powder and see how they hold up.
Here is a dash hood for a dragster in more Solar Rain. Its time for a new color. I've got a set of Cobra R's that should be done today I'll get some pics up later.

Hey guys I got a bunch of sample panels of candies, transparents and some sparkly colors. So if someone has something in mind I have some real live samples to put pics up of. I'm gonna order some more sample panels here soon so I'll have even more. Maybe tomorrow if the sun is out at all I'll try to get some pics of the really cool colors and post them up.
I was thinking of having you do some candy red type color over my polished valve covers, and not sure how it would turn out on top of the aluminum accy brackets. Either way, when i get to that point i'll let you know :)
Hey Jon I've got a couple red candies I'll be posting up pics of tomorrow. Check back and let me know if you like any of them.
Sounds good, im looking for a darker.. not quite as dark as my car.. Are the candies needing a polished part first or just a good clean piece of aluminum make it still pop?
Hubby came home with my covers last night!!! OMG..they are incredible!! Sitting on our dining room table now. I think Andy left a fingerprint on them though I gotta dust off. So glad we picked the wrinkle black. Thanks again!!
Glad you like them. Guess you never figured they would make a nice center piece for the dining room table. BTW I'll take some of those cookies one day.:DQuote:

Andy you have a pm
Allright guys here are a bunch of colors. Most of them showed up really good but on some the metallic did not quite pop like it does in person. Pretty much all of these are a two stage which means they will need a clear coat or they need a basecoat. Sorry if this is posting too many pics but I just wanted to give you guys a small sample of some of the really cool colors that are out there. Enjoy
