I always heard if you buy a bigger house you end up filling it up. I guess the same thing happens with a huge garage.
That's the truth! 30x69 garage, 24x10 lean too, and 12x16 shed and its all full! I don't know how I got it to fit in a 24x30 garage and the shed before.

I spent part of the day cleaning all the caked on grease on the intake. Glad that is over.
I made some more progress last night. I hope to have it running this weekend.

Moving along nice! Looks pretty good!

Got the turbo and timing belt on today. I would like to get the rest done tomorrow but I'm not sure if I have time. It will be soon though.

One more day of working on it I should be ready to start. I should have it running by the weekend.

It's finally back together. I'll try starting it later this week.
Looks good. Sure are a lot of hoses on that thing.
Looking good Joe!
Thanks guys! I just hope it runs tomorrow.
Looking great! I need to get mine running again. Maybe we can run em next year?
That would be cool! I tried starting it over the weekend and I either have the timing off or the couple gallons of E85 sucked up too much moisture in the last 3 1/2 months. I'll check the timing again this week.
Figures, there are different flex plates that have different sensor positioning. I think I got mine right. If not I'm going to have to pull the transmission to correct it. It's a 8 hole pattern and can be rotated in 8 different ways since the hole spacing is even and there is no only one way locating pin.
Pulled the starter tonight and found out I did indeed mount the flex plate correctly. Apparently you can see the gap for the crank position sensor line up with the starter opening at TDC 1st cylinder. I'm so glad too since I didn't feel like pulling the transmission. I got a new coolant tube and crank sensor coming. I hope I can drive this thing soon.
I finally got a new crank position sensor and coolant tube. I hope both fix my issues. My car was creating spark and causing all the injectors to fire during rotation while rotating the motor with a ratchet with the ignition on after I replaced the frayed crank sensor that still ohms well but possibly was grounding out somewhere. I'm really confused about timing of spark verses the location of the rotor on the distributor. I was also weirded out that all the injectors fire as a batch. That seems inefficient to me.
It's alive!!!
Nice!
Good job Joe.
Congrats! Yeah batch fire dowsnt make the same power as sequential I've been told, never seen it first hand on the dyyno tho.... I picked up a head and cam setup for mine.
Cool! I was fighting a grounded wire on the crankshaft sensor. Once I got a new one it fired right up. It also showed me I had a loose oil turbo feed hose too, haha.

What's the difference in this new head and your old one btw?
Good to hear!!!
I have few more things to adjust and do but the biggest part is now over. I guess 3 1/2 month old 2 gallons of e85 in the car runs it just fine. I'll fill up after Christmas.
Well I went and got gas and my battery didn't charge. My AutoZone special replacement alternator failed. I'll be getting a new one there tomorrow. I'm almost tempted to put a used bosch alternator in. Seems like the AutoZone ones are hit or miss from what I'm reading.
Yes, their quality control is lax. But you get what you pay for. Try napa.

After having a leaking oil feed line and erratic air fuel the car finally drove well today after changing O2 sensor and replacing the oil line and oil cooler sandwich plate. It was fun being able drive it again.
Good to hear you was finally able to drive it. Ready to make some passes now?
Finally have over 500 miles on the new engine. I'm running 17 psi and leaning up in upper RPMs. I'll have to retune and/or upgrade my pumps. The car is making good power on less boost.
That's always good though! More power, less boost! Should run good once you get it dialed in.
I'll probably just add a little fuel pressure until I buy a chip burner. I had my gas wideband go to 12.9:1 which I would like to see around 12-12.5. I'm going to just fixing odds and ends on it now.
Bring it up and we'll strap it down! I just got my block back today.
50 bucks, after this coming weekend. That next weekend I should be able to make some time.
I'll probably try it out on a later date. I'm curious what kind of power it makes though.
If 50 is too high toss me something to cover electric and some time.
50 is fair, I need to get someway of tuning it before I take it. I borrowed a ostrich 2.0 and had a guy burn me a chip last time. I want either of those two things before I make it up. Right now I would only be dynoing at 17 psi. I want to bump that up still.
