40 x 60?
Awesome!!!!
Congrats...
Thanks guys. He finished up yesterday, need to get rock down next week and then crushed cement after that. I called the pole barn company and they said I am scheduled for July, but it may end up being end of June. Can't wait, it's been a long 10 months.
It sucks building right now with the cost of lumber through the roof. I haven't bought any steel siding lately so Im not sure how bad it is right now. Hopefully not to bad.
Bought the kit in March and locked the price in. But yeah, the reason I'm building 60x64 is because it cost twice what it did 2 years ago. So I had to go half size. When the economy crashes in a year, everything will drop in price.
Prices are out of control right now. I was going to do a porch and a roof but Im going to hold off for a little while and see what happens. It has to come down sometime Id think.
Depends on if it is inflation driven or demand driven. At the rate govt is printing money to give away it may never come down. Last year while building my media room I experienced a large increase in prices on 2x4 studs. The first batch I bought in May were about $4 each for in untreated premium wood (the better stuff). By November time frame the prices were almost $7 each for the same. The pressure treated stuff was up to over $9 as I recall. That was due to shortage mostly due to people building during the pandemic and some due to govt printing money to hand out.
I just took a look at a PC upgrade for home. Prices on these units are back almost where they were in the early 90's. Shopping for a used 13/14 Mustang I have seen that some places are asking more for a used one then what they sold new for. Some of the latter gets blames on the CPU chip shortage. But groceries likewise have jumped and gas is at $3 for 87octane and we are just in May. So I doubt we are going to see prices come down much if ever. Hope I am wrong, but if inflation and or demand doesn't get us, our out sourcing of commodities to China and turning back to the Middle East for oil will. USA is becoming like a coal mining town. The mine owns the town and the stores. You get paid in script that is only usable at the local town stores. The mine owns your home you pay to rent. The mine inflates the prices at the stores. The mine controls your paycheck. The mine owns you.
Congrats Mike!
Thanks Chris. Been a long time coming.
Chad, I feel ya. I see this going one of 2 ways. I'm hoping for the bottom to fall out rather than another Carter era.
6 loads of gravel dumped off thurs. Driveway is worse for wear now. Pics at 11.
Will be nice not having to rent a place for sure. I'm hoping to build something rather large here in the next yr or 2 myself.

The joys of building. So the pad looks better but the guy that advertises 'gravel' for 300 per 20 tons really isn't gravel, it's slag from AK. Nice. So now I get to spend double putting real gravel over this. But at any rate it is moving forward and I'm in better spirits as a result.
Does it make a decent base? I see a lot of people using it now a days. That and asphalt grindings.
Well, they dropped(literally) the trusses off last week. Supposed to be out to start putting it up last week of July. Sucks but at this point, I just want it done.

Bet you're ready to get it done! Nothing better than being able to just step outside and go to work. Be able to have everything there close to you.
I wanna be like you Brian! Yep, it will be nice, except when someone assumes since it's next to my house I'm open 24/7. I need to put a gate up on the driveway I guess.
Don't be like me! Im lazy!!! All the work I have to do and no motivation! This week Im off work so I am trying to get some stuff done.
You'll definitely need a gate! Have to keep the work and pleasure separate, that and the home life. My wife hates it! We'll be in the middle of dinner and people will stop by. Then I feel like I have to take care of whatever they need. Sucks.
Exactly what I will do.
Meany's!!!
I guess. Some people need that because they have no social skills, they show up at 545 in the middle of dinner or at 945 at night. No respect, no empathy for someone else. It's different if they call and I say come on over.
Ok, so the Amish guys work harder than a pack of Jamaicans! Here is the second day.

I had to go out of town on Monday, so I didn't get to see it get completed or make sure they left things they were supposed to leave, so at least it's finished. Now on to getting the excavating done correctly and gravel, then concrete. Fun fun.

First one in the shop. Unfortunately, may have to cut this one from the herd to pay for all the other crap, since it's all quadrupled in price.

Man that's a lot of trusses! Looks huge! They sure don't mess around!
As with any garage, it's not big enough! I'll be adding on once this is paid for and prices fall.
