The 10R80 has been holding up to about 750RWHP without modifications for some time before needing to be reworked though it will have a shortened life just as any stock item will under higher HP, but it doesn't have the ability to go much higher as the 6R80 in 17 down models will. That said stock vs stock the 18 GT 10R80 will outperform the 17 GT 6R80 in the standing quarter hands down. I would be cautious of a 10R80 car that has more than N/A mods done to it...that said you could always come drive my 17 to see if you even like the S550 setup. It only has 630 at the wheels. Text me and let me know if you'd like to do that. You may even find you want to buy mine rather than pick up an 18 that will take some doing to get it up to the same HP level mine is.
Other than that I am not aware of any major issues with the 18+ cars. Plenty of them modified up the number I have mentioned and doing pretty good. You will always have the person who expects them to drivem feel, and have the solidity of a 100,000.00 Mercedes or BMW or other car they are TRYING to compete with in the european market but you just have to ignore those prudes.
