Its NEVER a good idea to let others ride around all that rigid, unforgiving material. A good cage is designed to protect the driver, and in some cases the passenger provided the occupants are wearing all their other protective gear (helmets, harness, etc.) I don't know of any cage designs that take in to consideration rear seat passengers. And forget the padding argument. Even the SFI pads are designed to help a HELMETED head withstand the impact. The soft foam padding does absolutely nothing in an impact, it is more there to protect you from banging your body parts as you get in or out. Let's be honest, if you have a cage in your car and you drive without a helmet you are taking a risk, period. Let's not get kids hurt.
