    I had a blast

Wow I had a good time yesterday. The wife and I took the SRT4 out to an autocross. We had taken my 95 Neon once before, but I don't remember it being that much fun. I have come to the conclusion that I am a better driver in autocross than I am at the drag strip. I managed to cut 9.5 seconds off my times through out the day and finished 2nd in D stock. The wife won D stock ladies. Then we got to go for a ride with Crissy Weaver (I think she post on here once in a while) in her 03 Mach 1. She has been the F stock ladies natonal champ for the last 3 years. Now I have been in fast street cars, but WOW what a ride. I never knew a stock Mustang could be so damn fun.

Yeah, I've held on for dear life in that car. (but kent was driving)

It's weird how smooth is fast in roadracing but in autocross you have to get a little violent!

That's because conedodging is a very different discipline than roadracing.

There's a reason that a good autocrosser doesn't necessarily make a good roadracer and vice versa.

I think I'm better at roadracing than autocross. I'm all about feeeeeling the balance of the car. At autocross, I'm smooth and I've NEVER taken out a cone... but I'm NO WHERE NEAR as fast as Kent Weaver!!! He manhandles that car!

Same here. I downright suck at autocross. I don't abuse the machinery enough, I think.

And another one is hooked--it's like a big ole crack pipe. I don't know why I waited so long to get hooked on autocross. It's perfect for my ADD mind. BTW, how many drivers in your class? What was the FTD?

There were 3 drivers in my class. There were a ton of classes since they ran both SCCA and NASA classes. The guy that won killed me by about 4 seconds, but I did beat the guy in the WRX which made me feel good. My wife finished 4 out of 9 women total for the day and about 2 -3 tenths ahead of me....she really knows how to abuse the car. I found a good deal on some race rubber so if I can come by some new wheels.

And I got 6 runs (could have had more) or about a minute a piece vs. 2 runs (if you are lucky) at kilkare on a Thursday night that last a quarter of the time. I guess the natural progression will be a HPDE or open track event...but thats way down the road.

Do a HPDE, I guarantee you'll never go stand in a parking lot all day for 5 minutes of slow driving again.

I plan on trying an HPDE (next year), but I don't know if I'll get bored with all of the "down time" between turns.

I can't take credit for being the driver in all those pictures. My wife was driving in about half of them.
