the OD band may be getting loose or the OD servo may be getting stuck and not engaging all the way. Does the OD light flash when its starts shuttering?

Ask him if it does. On my Explorer when the OD light blinked that ment problem in the computer. Its like a check engine light for your tranny.

I had the exact same problem with my 4r70w. Do a complete flush of the tranny (converter, lines, everything). The 4r70w has a heat issue that burns the fluid and causes the slipping. As soon as I put all new Mercon V in it, and a new filter (which costs a ton, well for the fluid anyway), it shifted perfect. Its a pretty common problem.

The TC has a drain plug and you can access it through the bellhousing.

    Good luck.

In most cases this is converter shudder. Lucas makes an additive that will fix it most of the time.

Additives do nothing more than cause increased slippage, which will seem to alleviate the problem until the clutch or band is completely fried. MerconV fluid is the critical component in any 4r70w transmission.
