    For Sale: 1978 Fairmont Sedan

1978 5.0L Ford Fairmont Sedan (ie 4 doors).

    The good:
    -50something thousand original miles.
    -Always been garaged.
-Little to no rust, this thing is clean.
-Paint is doo-doo brown in fair to good shape.
    -"Butterscotch" vinyl top and interior.
-Really, really nice interior. Seats are pristine, carpet nearly new. Dash pad is in need of some TLC. Not cracked, but discolored.
-Has a new MSD "off-road" coil and ignition box (both are fully potted), along with a new MSD billet distributor and wires.
    -New Silverstar sealed beam headlamps
-Lots of fancy chrome and stainless steel trim
    -Factory aluminum bumpers
    -All lights are intact.

    The bad:
-A mouse got into the A/C evap box at some point. I cleaned what I could by removing and swapping the fan box out. The mouse never made it in the car though, so there are no chewed wires. If you are going to pull the heater box to make it a 4 door racecar, this will not matter.
    -The A/C does not work.
-Does not run so great anymore, she needs tuned up and to be driven regularly.
-Headliner is sagging, but still there in great shape.
-The sealant around the windows is a bit overkill. Ford slathered that tar-like crap on like it was going out of style. The front and rear windows (IMO) need to be pulled, all that sealant removed, then re-set the windows with a newer type of sealant that actually dries.

I can provide pics in the next day or so.

    SB price: $1000

    Some background on the car-
It's been in the family since new. His wife's grandfather bought it new in fall of 1977. It's one of the first Fairmonts ever made, with a Oct 1977 build date. I bought this from my brother a few years back but have never gotten around to doing anyting with it. I'm selling it so the woman can park her car inside the garage.

These pics are a few years old. Not much has changed.

The cracked taillight has been replaced and the paint was waxed last year.

More. Before the MSD parts. Still have the OE stuff. Battery has been replaced.
The engine bay has been cleaned up a bit too.
Correction to above, September 1977 build date.

    Two last things:

    1) Unforuntely the hood ornament got broken off somehow. I still have it, but the "loop" at the very bottom is broken and I think the attachment stuff is missing. I still don't know how that happened and I'm still not happy about it!

    2) There is a small dent in the hood- well, a "reverse" dent from someone closing the hood on the prop rod I think. The hood will need a little work to look perfect.

    To the top.

The Fairmont has just been sitting- I don't have the time to do anything to her. She needs a new home. Unfortunately the battery is dead now So much for a battery tender.

The car is in great shape still, but it doesn't want to run since it's been sitting so much for the last 4 or 5 years. I'm guessing some fresh fuel might get her going, but no promises. It may take a trailer or flatbed to get her home.

Definately possible. Depends on what it is. Wouldn't mind trading it for a top end AR or a nice stainless 1911. I can pick up a Colt AR brand new for around $750 so it'd have to be something a bit nicer than that. Would prefer a 1911. Though what I really want is an M76!
