OK, I bought a new battery last night.. poured some fuel in the dry carb and she fired right up. Unfortunately, the carb is leaking now. I plan to either rebuild the carb or buy a rebuilt carb and put it on there. I also need to drain out the old gas and get new gas in her tank.

The better she runs, the higher the price goes! Hell, I might even take a shot at gettting the A/C charged and working if nobody buys it as-is.

If I don't get any bites from the locals soon, she's going on Ebay.

I'd rebuild the carb if I were you. Too much bad luck with rebuilt carbs from parts stores....

I'm worried it might have a crack in it somewhere. It'd suck to pay 25~45 bucks for a carb rebuild kit and find out the base is cracked. I'll probably still rebuild it though.

I tried several rebuilt carbs for my '77 Mustang. Every one of them were crap no matter how much I tuned on them. Car had loads of power for a 2.3, but wouldn't idle. Stumbled when accelerating unless I tromped it, put my original back on, and it ran ok, except the isues I had before.

Just seems like rebuilt carbs have been rebuillt way too many times to be any good.

But hey, free bump for ya, if I had indoor storage and the money this would be mine.

So, who makes a good rebuild kit? I've seen ones from probably 25 different companies. Any particular brand that works good for you?

Never got around to rebuilding mine yet... don't really know how. Plus, if I screw it up... I'll never find another Mustang II carb ever again.... lol! So I am looking for a reputable kit, and a reputable rebuilder as well....

I found a detailed step by step with color photos on rebuilding the 2150 carb. I'm thinking about doing it myself.. I mean.. how hard can it be, right?

As it sits, $1000. It'll run long enough to get it on a tow truck. Trailer would be tougher w/o a winch, but is probably doable too. You can't drive it far with the carb leaking fuel though. Once it's fixed and running, who knows what she'll bring.

Edit: That price is for Stangbangerz only!
