Those with Concealed Carry in Ohio

Get yourself on the phone and e-mail to your reps.
A couple of votes are coming up in regards to allowing Concealed Carry in establishments that serve alcohol.

I am not sure how I feel about being able to carry in bars but I will be happy to get rid of the stupid restrictions on carrying in a car.

I see no problems with carrying anywhere by a responsible person. Will there be people who break the law? Sure but there most likely doing it anyway. I'm most happy that I'll be able to carry in restaurants.

Well I rarely find myself in a bar these days so its not really an issue for me anyways.

This law does not allow the current CHL holder to drink with a firearm. This allows the CHL holded to enjoy an evening at a restaurant of his choosing while being able to rightfully and intelligently defend himself and his family should some thing happen.

K I have serious issues with this, I don't currently have a CCL but I have in the past and I can honestly say that I've never ever had or even ran across an instance while eating dinner out that I felt the need to be armed.

Now when I go out to eat with my family that i'll have to be worrying about what idiot is packn heat. I'm totally o.k. with our rights to bare arms, but really do you need to carry in a family restaraunt? One of the reason's i'm saying this is a buddy of mine just got his conceal and carry.

Now granted this is my buddy he's a member of this site and i'm not saying anything he hasnt said about himself. He's an idiot and do I really want an idiot packn heat just because he can into the same restaraunt that i'm eating at with my 4 girls.

again I just don't understand the need to in a restaraunt.....

Its not really bars thats an issue for me. Its Chipotle and similar restaurants that I hate not being able to carry in. I just hate taking it off and locking it in the car.

X2 I would rather have responsible citizen eating dinner with a firearm than a gun in the car to get stolen

Agreed. I have no issue with carrying in resturaunts at all. Its the idea of people going to a bar, one that doesn't serve food, and carrying a gun. Sure the law forbids drinking and carrying a concealed weapon but laws also forbid criminals from having guns and how well does that work? Of course if the law forbid weapons in drinking establishments there is nothing really keeping someone from carrying anyways.

DO they have a sign on the door? If they serve just beer, then its not a D liquor license and you can carry in there.

Class D permits are generally issued to an establishment that sells alcohol or consumption on the premises.

You would have to research what type of permit they have to know if your allowed to carry. They could only serve beer but might have a d permit.

I was mistaken. The only one I can find on the list in the one on RT4. They have a D1-D3-D6. So im going to say that is what all of them have. Sucks. It will change anyway.

I can understand all that. However, think about this: do you think that "bad guys" care that it's a "family restaurant"? Heck, that might even be a target for them because they feel that no one will be able to stop him.

Chances are, the idiot that is carrying a gun to a bar, has been, without a permit, and is drinking anyway.
