05 z51 vette vs 04 whippled Saleen

So i was driving on the outerbelt around parkersburg yesterday and a beautiful yellow saleen vert blew past me revving the guts out of his engine I got up behind him and his tag said WHPLD 04. I dropped it into third and started to pull up beside him and all i heard was his blower screaming and he took off. At the top of third i was about a car out on him and kept pulling away all the way thru 4th, I finally let out at about 140 and I was at least 4-5 cars out on him. I honestly expected to get my ass handed to me.

I've looked and oddly enough cannot find evidence of a whipple option offered for the 2004 4.6 2V engine. Hmmmm. There may be an adapater kit forthe 03/04 Cobra Whipple option that will mate it to the 2V?????? I don't know. Or maybe he did a 4V swap??? I would have expected a lot more if that were the case.

With that in mind, the best package out that year offered from Saleen was a 445 crank HP (liberally 400 RWHP based on 10% PT loss).

Or maybe he just lifted early after realizing he picked a fight he couldn't win. I've had vettes do the same to me. They back off when realizing I'm more than a stock GT with a chin spoiler and magnaflow exhaust when picking a fight with me.

DIdn't they offer a 03/04 Cobra based Saleen? I'm pretty sure they did, so that could be how it had the wipple on it...

I've seen 99 to 04 2V's with whipples on them. The most they could put down was in the low 400's.

Nice kill , the supercharged saleens werent that impressive to me , had a roomate that had one and it was a quick car but not overly fast.

They must not be making them any more or not listed due to minimal interest??? None of the pages I googled and looked at had a 99-04 2V whipple option available/listed. I also checked FRPP (I believe that SC is a whipple) and all they have available is a whipple for the 4.6 4V (03/04 cobra option).

a friend of mine has a 98 GT with a built 2v and a whipple on it that makes 460/450 so i know they were available at one point.
