I haven't ever done one before but Im just winging it! I was looking at around $3000 to chop the top and channel the cab and bed. So I said hell with it, Ill do it myself. How hard can it be? Ive got a few friends that will be helping out since I suck at welding! Hopefully by spring, Ill have most of it done and have it driving under its own power.
I got a sawzall, I'm we can chop the top !!!

Did some horse trading with Todd (cyah) for the 9 inch center section.

Installed the center section so I could measure for a drive shaft. I was just going to use the aluminum driveshaft from the yellow car and have it cut down but Id rather just use a stock steel drive shaft since its smaller diameter. Space is going to be limited...

I ordered some header flanges and 1 5/8 tubing so I can make a set of headers. Ill have a couple different sets I can swap back and forth depending on how I feel! These will just be 15 inch long primary tubes coming straight off the flanges. Next set will be the Lakester style with 3 1/2 inch megaphones and turn outs. Ill post up pictures when I get them done.

Got started on one header today before the football games started. Need to get it all welded up and taper the ends yet.

Rather than watching football and being pissed off all weekend because the Bengals lost, I stayed in the garage as much as I could and worked on the Model A. It makes me happy knowing that I actually made something for it. I have the knowledge and most off the tools but sometimes I lack the confidence. And Im a tight ass so I hate to pay for metal and screw it up!!

Well anyways, I ordered a set of Patriot header flanges and some 1 5/8" pipe. I cut the 5ft. section into 4 pieces of 15 inches. Smashed the end of the tubes in the vise to fit the 1 3/4 inch holes in the flange. Got the tube to fit and welded it on the inside of the flange. Im going to have my buddy finish welding them on the outside so they don't look like crap!!! Tonight I took a piece of 1 3/4 tubing and made a template for how I wanted the taper done. Laid it all out, marked it, and cut close to the lines with a cutoff wheel. Then I cleaned it all up with a disc. I think they turned out pretty good for my first time. I know its nothing like what Rob Lewis or any other fab shop would do, but I did something for it that Im pleased with. Now to start on the drivers side!!

Picked up some more parts from Ricky (Evolved) last night.

Foxbody timing cover, intake gaskets, pulleys, small bell C4, and a stock driveshaft. Im getting a little closer to firing this thing up!

    Thanks Shayne!

Chris Im still looking for some of the old finned ones. If I don't find any soon, Ill get with ya. I have a set of the finned Ford Racing ones but I don't want to use them either if I don't have to.
