    Truck coyote Vs Mustang coyote

So I am picking up a truck coyote this weekend. Finally found one with low miles and a good price. Something that might be worth posting is the differences in the 2 engines.

I believe the big differences that I am aware of are the
Cams (Cant remember if its intake or both intake and exhaust)
    Intake Manifold
and I believe there is something a little different in the timing cover.
I also believe the earlier mustang engines had the piston oil jets and the trucks do not, but also read that the later mustangs did away with the jets, I cannot confirm this however.

I am sure Mike has some good input on this.

Exhaust cams are different, different front cover, manifold I believe is the same just a different color, 10.5 to 1 compression on the truck 11 to 1 on the Mustang.

If you need an alternator for the swap I have one with 300 miles on it.

It is off a 2015 f150. Had to change it for a bigger alternator to run a snow plow.

Ah...I'm getting an alternator with this engine but I think I need to a different one that works with the brackets for a fox swap. I've seen these things but have confirmed what I need since I had not planned for this route but getting a truck engine for a good deal so I had to jump at it.

Intakes are the same, just lack the rubber biskets to mount the engine cover. Intake cams are the difference, exhaust is the same. Compression is 10 to 1 last I checked. Oil squirters were by year, my 11's have it the 12's do not, but my 12 mustang engine had them. 12/13 they changed head studs, so there are 11mm and 12mm head studs, different lengths as well. Timing cover is a little different, lacking an idler pulley. Won't make a difference unless you are bolting a blower to it. Oil pans are different than the mustangs. Suggest using a canton drag race or road race swap pan. We have the drag race pans. Rods are the same as 4.6 rods, same with rod bearings. Main bearings are a special number but I'm hearing a 5.0 crank will set down into a 4.6 block, haven't tried it personally yet. Hope this helps.

Sorry Egbert it is intake cams that are different. Truck motor should be 10.5:1. Another thing I forgot to mention are oil pump gears are supposedly thinner.

I've heard that too about the oil pump gears. My question is can they be swapped without other changes to the billet gears? And I knew Mike would clear us up on all the details.

Yes oil pumps are different, you can put a mustang pump but have to do the whole thing can't just change the gears, but why not just get the billet truck gears? They will work fine

I sell triangle speed gears, they make a truck specific gear set. Lower volume of oil means more hp. They aren't much thinner at all. Hard to tell the difference really.

I talked with TSS earlier in the year and they may not be making anymore F150 gears. They claim they are not a big seller...however Mike may disagree with that. I ended up buying a Ford Racing Boss oil pump assembly. I have a source that told me Ford uses TSS gears in their Boss oil pumps.
