What are you looking to gain from it?

Exactly, what are you trying to achieve with it? I don't think they are worth it, except for maybe the skirt area.

Hard anodizing is the biggest change these days. Supposedly it makes the piston damn near indestructible, within reason. They say the piston will live, but the chamber may not, if things go south.

At that point, which is the easier fix??? $1500 for a nice set of pistons (cheaper if you already have a couple spares) or a $4500 set of heads.
From the looks of your old pistons, Id say spend the money elsewhere. They did fine.

I was just thinking of it as a safety factor when running the nitrous, a small shot of course. Lol

You need to quit playing around and get a turbo on that thing and be done!!!

It's not in the budget at this time, I will have to stick with the other route for now. But like I mentioned in the other thread, I'm going to gasket match my intake manifold to my heads, that should make a huge improvement, right?

I might have to gasket match something to try to keep up with all you ballers!

I experimented with this on my real street engine. Coating the skirts with a special coating that keeps oil adhering to it to inhibit skirt scoring. It was ok but didn't see any gains in hp or longevity of the piston. The surface coatings for the top of the piston is something I've toyed with trying but just have no reason to try it yet. Dart does a great job of coating at a reasonable price.
