Exclamation The 2018 Dirty Dozen Challenge List and Rules

    The 2018 Dirty Dozen Challenge

The Dirty Dozen Challenge is a challenge for spot list, similar to Street Outlaws, and separate from The Dirty Dozen ET list. Each of the 12 spots on this list will have to be "challenged" for. There will be no ETs needed to be posted. Just race results. All spots will be run for in a heads-up type format. This list will be open to all makes and models.

    1) Run whatcha brung! Any make or model allowed, but must have current registration, tags, and insurance. Tags and registration must match car that is being run. No dealer tags.

    2) The Dirty Dozen Challenge Coordinator

There will be a neutral party picked that will be responsible for keeping track of, and being a part of, all challenges. This person will be fair and impartial and will see to that all races are on the up and up. If there is any controversy about a race the Dozen Coordinator's decision will be final.

    3) Challenges - The list will start with racers holding the spot they ended with last season. As it was last season there will be no "Gate Keeper" that has to be gone thru to get started on working your way up the list, but, you will need to challenge someone from spots 6-12 and beat them to get on the list. Once on the list you can only call out 2 spots above your current spot. If you are in the 10 spot you can challenge for the 8 spot, if you are in the 3 spot you can challenge for the #1 spot, etc.. The CHALLENGED racer chooses the track and day of the race. The race should happen within one week of the challenge. If the challenger legitimately cannot make the date/time set by the challenged, then the Dozen Coordinator may need to come in and find a reasonable solution to make sure the race happens. The Challenged racer has lane choice in chosen race. If the Dozen Coordinator has to set up the track and time to make the race happen, then lane choice will be decided by coin toss.

    4) The Race - Races will be run heads up. Sportsman tree, Pro tree, whatever the racers can agree on. A redlight is a loss. Crossing the centerline of the track is a loss. There will be no "a chase is a race" or anything like that, if both lanes are green, it's a race. This isn't about who can hustle the best. Races will be run on a local track decided on by the racers. Street races will not count towards the list.

    5) Break Rule - There is no "official" break rule, BUT, If you have a catastrophic failure you should probably remove yourself from the list. If you are challenged and cannot make a race due to breakage, you automatically forfeit that race. If you continue to be challenged while broke you will keep dropping spots until you are off the list. Just make it easier all the way around and ask to be removed. When you get car running again you can start challenging for spots again.

Notice there are no rules about post counts, mufflers, windshield wipers, horns, trailers or anything of the like. The rules are deliberately left "open" to allow the greatest amount of participation. You can be a part of The Dirty Dozen ET List and this list as well. You don't have to decide whether to be on one or the other. We will be trying to put together a couple of Running of The Dozen Shootouts throughout the racing season as these types of events get the most movement on the list and they are a lot of fun. Event dates and venues will be announced as soon as we can get schedules sorted. At the end of the season there will be a Dirty Dozen Challenge Shootout, all spots will be locked after this shootout!! This will not be a mandatory event, but non-participation may result in your dropping many spots or even off the list completely depending on challenges. The spot you hold at the end of this season will be the spot you start off with the following racing season. Let's find out who has the baddest street cars in the area! Start making those challenges and good luck to all!

I'll talk to you down there. I only have intent on making a pass or two on the new converter after it was installed and the tune touched up, before I pull it back out and go back to the stock converter. Just curious how it will work. I am likely going to be retiring. Second, I'm only going down because I rolled my ankle real bad at the golf course a few weeks back and it is still trying to heal up or I'd be hitting golf balls at the range to get my swing back.

I'm thinking Steve, we should both call out Shayne this Friday night. HE can run what he brung to defend his spot. Maybe that would prompt some movement on the list. Rather than you and I being the most active two on the list beating up on each other, I think we should focus on bumping #1. It will save the cars and at the same time possibly shake things up like when I beat Shayne last year for the #1 spot.

What do you think Steve? I'll let you call him out first so you can be #1, and I'll then call him out for the #2 spot. Then we can get back to testing and tuning.

Its racing Shayne ole' buddy, its not personal.

You and I have raced a bunch for sure. Lets have a race and show the fair weather racers how its done. All i have done so far this year is a little bracket racing. I am ready for a heads up race.

Rule 3 above only allows a callout within 2 spots of our current positions. We have to go through brian and shannon first. Haha. But i told shayne this week that i am coming for him.

I wanted to make friday interesting . And no one has made a callout this year and its almost august. At least last year by this time you, hensley and i had traded spots around about 10 times.

^^^ The idiot handling of E20 by Dick and staff has led to a large percentage of the inactivity for me personally. Second, The man upstairs seemed to answer my prayers to "Please only rain mon-thu and give us dry nice weather fri-sun all spring summer and fall. But He saw to it differently for reasons beyond me. I just deal with it as a grumbling follower.Third I have focused on getting back into golf again since I have no issues playing in the rain. I need to do this so I can do things with my father and my father-in-law before I can no longer do it and regret not having done so. I can't afford the time nor money for two hobbies at once. So to the back burner goes racing.

Last, I really have little interest in making car payments on a car that has been hit by someone coming into my lane at the track as was the very close call with Shayne last fall. If the car was free and clear it would not be so much an issue. If I were a body and automechanic expert and not an CNC machine technician it would be even less worry. If I had a 2.5 car garage and 100K in tools and raised on wrenching on race cars I would have even less inhibition. But fate was not shining on me in that respect so it is what it is.

I will be making a few passes this Friday. If you want the spot, call me out and I will concede it since you have the car there and want to run. Otherwise, I will do my thing on Friday which is to see what the car does with this stall converter before it gets pulled and put back to stock. I am only interested in seeing if it picks up any.

I hear you on all of the above. Spending time with family is priority. Racing is that for me. Dad, brother, wife and kids are almost always with me. I probably have less $ in my toolbox than you do in your golf bag. A ton of old and well used stuff Mixed with some harbor freight specials. Gotta do what you gotta do. We have run a lot and I have not so much as crowded your lane let alone cross. But i get your concerns. I will be there and would much prefer to race. I will make some passes whichever way.

^^^ See you Friday. BTW my clubs are 20 years old and I bought them used then. They aren't Harbor Freight, but they are hand me downs. But as soon as I get this ankle healed up and a few more lessons under my belt and a few more trips to the range to groove my swing I'm going to go get fitted and at least pick up a new driver, and try those new hybrids they are playing with today. If you snap a shaft in a golf club its about 50-75 bucks parts and labor.

It sounded like Chad is pulling himself off the list, correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I got out of it.

1-0! WOO-HOO!!!! To quote Apollo Creed, "There won't be any rematch". I'll just bask in my win and laud it over you when you get overly cocky....like right now.
