    It's about time 03 Cobra VMP 2.3 Supercharger

    I've been wanting to upgrade my 03 Cobra to a TVS for awhile now and I finally pulled the trigger. Right now the Cobra is under going surgery to get upgraded from the Steg V+ to a VMP 2.3. I waited over a month for all the parts and now it's finally time to bolt them on.

    Other things I upgraded this year was the Shifter to MGW and put in an adjustable clutch cable kit which I should of done with the Clutch swap 7 years ago.

    I've been wanting to run 11s on my street tires. Hope this gets me there.

    I sure hope so because 12.3@117
    is the best I could do with 555Rs and the ported upper pulley Steg V+.

    How was your 60ft on that pass? I think my silver cobra went a 11.72@117 on a stock blower with a 2.80 pulley on 555's. Your MPH was there for it.

    It was a 2.0... I would always launch easy on those. I had 28” slicks and went 1.69 60’ and went 11.518@120.89 with the Steg V

    I turned a 11.9@118.3 on the stock blower with slicks with 2.8 and 12.5@115 with the 555rs.

    You'll be there and faster Joe. I made 568 on the green 13 (full weight) and ran a best 11.49 on a 1.7x 60ft granny shifting and leaving at 4000 RPMs in good air. The VMP TVS flows so nicely and will make tons of power more than you already have. You may need to upgrade your half shafts if you haven't already. They'll be yelling at you to put a roll bar in it. What pulley did you go with? What pulley did you go with? I assume you went with a 2300 or did you go 2650TVS? Can't wait to see it running. Love that car.

    I went with 2.3 with 2.8 upper, the 2650 is nice but for what I want it was more than I needed. I have had an extra set of half shafts laying around for years Incase the stock ones broke. I think if I ever sell them that will be the day the original ones break,haha. I’ve seen both 03/04 Cobras, 15+ gts and cts-vs break and most of the guys just stay in the throttle when tires are loading and loading that break the shafts. I’ve always taken it easy with street tires. The slicks I could go 100 percent and they would dampen some of the initial shock of a clutch drop. Maybe it’s a big reason I never ran better than 2.0 60’ on the 555rs because I would only ease onto the throttle with those.

    A bias ply will same the half shafts. Mines always been SRA so Im not to worried about it. Its going to run good Im sure. Most of the TVS cars do.

    I finally got my LFP throttlebody Friday. Due to plenum casting being oversized I have to grind down the side of the Plenum for the Tb stop screw and grind down the throttle arm to get it to fit without interference. Vmp representative said that unfortunately This happens sometimes because castings vary in size. I’ll finish that later today.

    SRAs are so great for drag racing. Takes a lot of worry out of the equation. Your 2.9 Whipple moves out. I’m curious how the power band differs between TVS vs 2.9.

    The guys at VMP are looking to release a super high flow IC recirc pump. Not quite sure when but likely after the new year. I can't wait to see the thing make a pass Joe. Who's going ot be your tuner?

    Brandon at BA motor sports. He was the first guy to tune my car back in 05 and was the one to finally fix my stalling issues a few years back on the highway that was driving me crazy. When I had the car before it would just die with the shop fan. I could stall it out with a blow dryer it was so bad. Brandon saw the BA3000 meter was reading improperly. After working with him we were able to figure out what was causing it and resolve the issue I had for a few years.

    I would like to see that as well. I think Ricky (Evolved) has his dyno sheets. Be something to look at. His is still on 93 and runs real good. Stock motor with 2.3 TVS. Ill see if I can get him to chime in.

    Nice upgrade for sure !! I picked up a 2.3 TVS last November during a Black Friday sale....I just need some motivation to install on my 04. This thread definitely helps !!

    I was trying to get the 25 percent off deal last November but I missed out,lol. I finally pulled the trigger in September. I’ll do some work this week on it. I have a larger heat exchanger going in. I’m not sure if you are keeping or deleting your egr but either way it hopefully is the hardest part. I heard lining the egr upto the blower isn’t the easiest. My ported swap wasn’t bad but after reading the struggle I just decided to delete the egr to save any clearance issues on the vmp.
