1978 Mercury Zephyr, The first FoxBody...

With great sadness in my heart, a childhood friend (Ricky West) has recently passed away this past Tuesday at the age of 37 years old. He had started this project many years ago with great hope and anticipation to get this back on the road. He had suffered many challenges in life, not only his own medical situation of being diagnosed at the age of 18 with Lupas, but the mental challenges of dealing with family, he's had a rough life nonetheless. With this being said, he always told me that if anything was to happen to him, he wanted me to have this car and to finish it. So after meeting with his family this past Friday, they have agreed to allow me to pursue this new adventure. It is with great sadness but as well great pleasure, that I'm taking this project on in his memory and life on this Earth. God Bless!

Sorry to hear Shayne. What is the plan for it engine wise? Would be fun to put the FBB from Ford Racing in it if your budget would allow.

He had a 408W and a C4 built for it as well, that's what will go into it. I'll post some pics of it when I get down to where it's all currently being stored this week. The engine should be around 450-500hp, just a fun street car, that's what he wanted.

Sorry to hear Shayne. I didn't know this was his that you had posted.

This is a real cool car. Ive been looking for a Fairmont wagon for years with no luck as that was my 1st car. Hated that thing back then but Id love to have one today!

Im sure this will be a real nice car when done and would make him proud.

Thanks Brian, and good luck finding the wagon, I had one when I was in my early 20's.

Going to watch this one unfold. Love these cars and it's cool you're finishing it up as he intended it to be.
On another note, who's challenger is in the background? Is that at a resto shop or something?

It's the guy that owns the shop where the car is.

He was doing a good job using reliable components, no Ebay stuff there. Haha
Rob @ Rogue Race Cars did the cage, seat delete, door panels and welded up the axle tubes and straightened them.

Sucks you got it the way you did but it's awesome that you are going to finish it for him, the way he wanted, and with the parts he had. Very very cool.

The 408 setup will be sweet. He was making good choices all around.

It is with great sorrow, that I must now put this to bed, he knew that it would end up this way. After time has now passed, his mom wants me to pay an absurd amount of money for it, because someone told her that he spent said amount of money to get it where it is at this point and it's worth this. I explained to her that no matter what he did or didn't pay, should would never get it, this has come to a Sad end. I have tried to even go as far to offering a fair price for it, no luck, it's called greed...

Man it is so sad that this happens about 95% of the time.

Greed always comes first it seems. You would've done more for that car than anyone else.

It will sit and then it will go to some "Family" member who wont do anything to it and then sell it for pennies. I have seen this happen way too many times.

Give us all her number so that we can offer her LOW $$$ for it and then maybe she will see your FAIR offer and take it.

Sorry to hear it did not work out. So is it appropriate to ask how much the mother is wanting for the car?

I haven't talked to her yet about the car only as a roller, but I do have a call into here about that, she is wanting to sell everything. It has gotten so bad with his mom that none of his sisters are even talking to her at this point, money can be the root of all evil, it's so sad.
