Official Baddest of the S197's thread

I was curious which members have a bad ass S197. What are the modifications, 1/4 times, hp/tq numbers, how much time and money is invested, is it built for 1/4, autocross, show car or just a all around bad ass street car? Are you happy with your mods or would you go a different route? What are your next mods? I'm looking for street vehicles only. I'm not interested in race only vehicles. So if your car can't do a 100 mile trip easily please don't post. Cars do not have to have high horse power numbers or thousands of dollars invested to qualify for this thread. I would like to see who is lurking around and most importantly I would like to use this thread for informational purposes for those interested in modifying their S197. Thank you for your time and effort.

Please post pictures with your information!

Im trying to get super car performance from my Mustang. I know its hard to do but I'm trying. The car is built for all around performance. So far I have $25K invested in modifiactions and a years worth of work. Mods are Polished Kenne Bell 2.6L with 8 rib kit, intercooler, 60 lb. injectors, Kenne Bell Boost a Pump, Mafia, Kooks Long tubes, Kooks X-Pipes with cats, Magna flow cat back exhaust, Spyder shaft aluminum driveshaft, FR 3:73 gears, Shelby wheels, Toyo Proxes 4 295's in back and 275's up front, and Eibach Pro kit springs. Car made 487 RWHP/451 RWTQ with 10 lb. pulley. Future mods are built 302 stroker, (undecided) 150 hp NOS kit, up graded fuel system, 6 spd, big brake kit, some wieght reduction, and to finish it off full 1G suspension kit. I want the car to have 650 rwhp with out nitrous and capable of pulling 1 G on the skid pad. My most noticable mods was 3.73 gears and aluminum driveshaft. Both were installed together. I dont have 1/4 times because my tune isnt dialed in yet. The car pushed you into the seat through all 5 gears and can spin sideways in 3rd at 90 mph and the eibach springs handle very well but Im still not happy with it yet.

I dont have 1/4 mile times but at MD it was putting down 288hp/305tq at the wheels. I wish I had a blower

I don't have any pics handy on this PC but here we go.

I've got over $30k invested in mods on the car. It's gone through a bunch of changes trying to get the supporting mods where I want them before installing the F1A Procharger on the car. The current iteration of mods consists of:

    JLT Intake
    Mac 1 3/4 longtubes
    Mac O/R Prochamber
    CMCP deletes
    E85 Tune by Dayton Performance
TR6060 6 speed (was formerly Viper Spec T56)
Spec Stage 3+ with low pedal pressure option
    Spec Aluminum Flywheel
    Detroit Tru-Trac Diff
    4.30 Gears
    Lower control arms
    BMR Extreme Ant-Roll Bar
    BMR K-member
    BMR A-arms
    BMR radiator support/front swaybar delete
    Greg Weld Skinnies
Weld XP 15x9 rears with 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials

So far the best the car has gone with the T56 and no skinnies up front is a 12.85@106.6mph. I hope to improve on that before dropping the new motor in. I've added skinnies up front and switched to the TR6060 which has a 2.97 1st gear vs. a 2.66 1st on the T56. This should hopefully let me improve on the 1.73 best ever 60' time so far.

I have a 302 stroker being built by Dayton Performance and they are also porting a set of heads that will have oversized valves and custom blower cams with VCT eliminated.

Waiting in the wings to support that are:
Fore Precision Billet Triple Pump Hat with 3 GT(40) pumps, upgraded lines, Fore 3v Fuel rails, MDM Mega Driver FPDM, and a Procharger F1A kit with race intercooler and polished blower. I am going to eventually be running 120 or 160lb injectors to support the car running on E85, along with the injectors will have to go an injector driver since the factory ECU can't run low impedance injectors.

The end goal is ~800rwhp and whatever ET's I can muster trying to put that to the ground with drag radials and the 6 speed. I want to be able to drive to and from the track and only have to worry about changing air pressure in the tires, run the number, re-inflate and head home.

Nice! I almost went with those wheels. With my JLT CAI, LT headers, catted X-pipe, Magna flow catback I estimated about 295 to 305rwhp.

    05YellowGT,

Thats a hell of a build! I almost went with the Procharger but chose the KB for the look and instant power. How much is Dayton 5.0 charging you for your long block?

I'd have to dig up all the receipts as I've been piecing together all the parts a little at a time. The most expensive single purchase for the motor so far has been the CP pistons. I had a custom set made for the stroker shortblock. They are sexy to look at and are designed with valve reliefs for up to 0.600" lift cams. Honestly I used to have a spreadsheet with every part that I bought, itemized even separating labor from parts cost, gas, car washes, ect. The numbers started to get so high that I decided to stop counting because I could put one hell of a down payment on a house!

You have 528 rwtq? You might be buying a short block before you think. Who knows that could be a good thing. How much of a difference did you see with delete plates and the panhard bar? I would like to see some pics.

Is that your car at MD with the Roush front end? I noticed they took the blower off. What else are you getting done to it?

I run a pretty safe tune and run the nitrous occasionaly. I am awaiting the 3v aluminator. The delete plates cost me about 1.5 mpg. It seems to pull a little harder up top. On FI it maybe worth it, not on a NA car IMO. The panhard bar lets me center the rear axle, needed when lowered.

I picked up about 8-10 rwhp and rwtq with delete plates. I lost about 1mpg, worth it for a free mod IMO. I had a set of delete plates made from my stockers.

Most of it was done by MD. My car was down there off and on for about 2 months and your car was there the whole time. How many miles do you have on your car? 50 lol? I am dropping it off again next Monday so Ken can mees with the tune a little bit. If you dont mind I would like to get together and compare the performance of the whipple to the KB? That is if you ever pick up your car. I would like to see the differences between the two.
