    track ownership of a car from the late 70s

    my father sold his first car in the late 70s early 80s here in cincinnati i am trying to find the car to try and buy it back for his 50th birthday is there anyway to find the vin of this car i have no documentation or anything?

    Vin number,title number, any of those would make this ALOT easier.

    I used the vin from my car and tracked it back to a toyota dealer in Colerain. All the other owners were private owners. Carfax might be a little more in depth.

    i dont have the vin or anything i have no info other than when he traded it into a dealer here in cincinnati and there reckords dont go back that far

    Without the VIN you're pretty much out of luck unless it's a car that happens to be rare or unusual enough that there aren't that many of them out there.

    Well, at least it's a car that has a reasonable chance of surviving...I was concerned you were going to say it was a 1974 Mustang II or something.

    Still, without a VIN it's going to be next to impossible to locate the exact car. Even if you found one, how would you go about identifying it?
